The amosphere~ the narrator’s voice, like omfg, it just— GOD! Not in a million years would I imagine such a simple premise like this one being so serene in its horror.

They literally said they lost their toes at the beginning and I was STILL was shocked listening. It was like they described it like they were GETTING A FUCKING HAIR CUT!!?? What is up with this narrator? I want to hug them. Viciously. Then demand what the fuck is happening in their life for leaving the house to be more uncomfortable than losing one’s toes to FUCKING CATS!

This is unhinged and I love it dearly so.

Kaleidotrope - one season so far *fingers crossed there will be more* adorbale, kinda dorky, sweet fluff bit of a college broadcast show romance, with tropes and a tiny bit of magic. Also Samoas

The Magnus Archives - creepy,eerie, strange stories, underlying plot, The Admiral, it’s all good. (also soul crushing but what else do you expect)

The Bight Sessions - teens with powers plus therapist with ulterior motive.

Limetown - everyone in a research town vanishes, 15 years later, reporter investigates

Archive 81 - haunted creepy thing and tapes

Ars Paradoxica - scientist lady from somewhere in the future 20somethings gets thrown back into 1943...

Remarkable Providences - looking in depth into the Salem witch trials and what actually caused them.

Blackwood Podcast - good but there doesn’t seem to be any sign of a second season, and I felt like there should have been one, so bear that in mind.

Supernatural Sexuality with Dr. Seabrooke - what it says on the tin

Scared to Death - couple relates scary stories sent into them by people. I didn’t mean to get unnerved but they did it without me realizing. Thumbs up!

Tentacles - this seems to be a oneshot done by horror babble from a fictional podcast, but I really loved it so here it is.

A story time, death positive, informative podcast. Quite fun.

Full Body Chills - creepy/scary stories (some misses I’ll admit, but others are quite good)

Station Blue - Summer in Antarctica, but scary (not very far in but I’ll admit I’m hooked)

OSP Podcast - first part has them discussing behind the scenes stuff and whatnot on their previous youtube episodes, then they do a q & a (that usually hilariously goes off the rails but is always fun)

Horror/Lavraftian

The Magnus Archives a.k.a the podcast I've started to listen before it was cool. I loooove it. Love unique worldbuilding, love characters, love how everything is so thought out, how logical the plot is and how everything just comes together in the end. This show filled the void that Gravity Falls (lol) left in my heart years ago because now I can go to Reddit and read all the crazy fan theories. Be ready to get too attached and have your heart broken.

Archive 81

this show kinda has the same vibe as The Magnus Archives in the beginning, but they end up being completely different from each other in their approach to horror and supernatural. In Archive 81 it's not only terrifying, but it's also terrifyingly beautiful and chaotic. Other than that, the representation in this podcast is extremely well done. At least in my opinion.

The Box The beginning was great, but after 20th episode the narrator becomes Mary Sue. So I can't reccommend this one.

The Lost Cat This one reminded me about WTNV because the narrator has the same "supernatural is natural" attitude and a really smooth voice. The first season is better than the following ones, but I enjoyed this podcast anyway.

Sci-fi

Eos 10 Sitcom about Doctors in Space. It's light-hearted and pretty sweet, despite having some tough moments in later seasons.

The Deca Tapes This one is only 9 episodes, but it's great and engaging. Sci-fi here is mostly a background for human stories and interactions as well as a study of human nature. It reminded me about the novels written by sci-fi authors of the 20th century but in a good way. I also love that they did not just go with capitalism is bad, they took one idea and thoroughly built a plot around it.

Stellar Firma It's made by the same company that created TMA. Sci-Fi comedy, tells about the horrors of capitalism and creating planets. I would say that it's a nice way to get a break from all the horror podcasts, but actually, it reminded me a lot about my previous job and the reasons I quitted, so if you have an idiot boss and work in a toxic environment, tread lightly.

Solutions to problems This one is mehh. It's nice to listen as a background, but there is nothing special about it. At least for me. If you like light comedy this one is for you, though.

We fix space junk! Once again the authors use a sci-fi setting to expose horrors of capitalism and bureaucracy. Even though it has been done already I liked it. It has great female friendship, interesting subplots, adventures and made me laugh and think a lot. So if you are into the sci-fi, you shall give it a try!

To this day I still haven't found another podcast that does Lovecraftian horror as well as The Lost Cat Podcast. The cool thing about the podcast is that it has all the same basic elements of Lovecraft's style of horror but it's also the opposite of a lot of the dude's shitty xenophobic beliefs that are so ingrained into his style? The main character knows that his world is ever-changing and unknowable and he's never truly safe from harm but he's pretty chill about it? He follows strange trails to new places one step at a time and takes leaps into the vast all-consuming unknown. Strangers can be friends just as they can be enemies and he's willing to share a kind word or a drink with relatively anyone he meets? With Lovecraft the unknown comes with the promise of harm and despair. With this dude the unknown has just as great a chance of bringing joy or simple pleasures as it does to hurt him.
