Some revolutionaries attempt to hire the party to break into an Imperial Museum to steal a mummy. You are being paid a lot of money to not ask questions why. Using the British Museum is a good example of this, full of stolen artifacts from lands they've conquered.
This starts as a standard heist, but the plot twist here is that the mummy is the body of the revolutionaries' greatest heroes, and their hope is that they will free them of the shackles of their oppressors, and they try to revivify the mummy mid heist when it all goes wrong.
Additional complications are we could potentially have the resurrected hero's belief system be wholly out of line with the modern day. We can look at John Brown for this inspiration. They could stand against modern society, a la Roboute Guilliman. Or they could just be a normal guy in the wrong place at the wrong time who only became a hero in the retelling of the story like in The Lost Fleet by Hemry.
And yes, I've been thinking a lot lately about how death mechanics can really drive interesting plots, and create really surprising situations.
