One of the best explanations I've read for why calorie reduction does not work is an analysis of the Minnesota Starvation Experiment. They took healthy young men and reduced their caloric intake to about 1500 a day. In response, their bodies expended fewer calories: body temp, blood pressure, and heart beat decreased. They lost hair. They grew weak and dizzy. Rather than continuing to use the same amount of energy, when energy in decreased, energy out decreased. It wasn't that the volunteers exercised less. The body started expending less. In fact, if the body didn't expend fewer calories when fewer calories were being consumed, the body would rapidly run out of stores and die. I've started reading The Obesity Code, and is awesome.

Making Progress
It has been a little over 5 years since I seriously began trying to lose weight. I have gone through the gym phase, the keto diet, high protein, and calorie reduction. None of it worked for very long.
Notice that I said, “They didn’t work for very long.” All of it worked for a short time. I just couldn’t keep going.
Currently, I am reading and re-reading The Obesity Code, and, The Diabetes Code,…
