Osmosisians
There’s little a subject in Ben 10 as divisive as whether Osmosisians exist or not.
Personally, I dislike the concept of Osmosisians and the UAF retcons to Kevin’s backstory. I much prefer Omniverse’s explanation and dedication to explain why everyone thought otherwise, which other retcons (or attempted retcons) fail to do.
However, I cannot ignore Aggregor and his knowledge of Osmos V or Azmuth and Inspector 13’s knowledge of Osmosisians.
Several fans have decided that Servantis was lying the entire time, that Devin Levin existed, and Kevin is a hybrid. However, this doesn’t change inconsistencies with Classic however.
Instead, I’ve rationalized this:
Servantis was lying
…but not about Kevin.
Kevin is a mutant with two humans parents.
However, Osmosisians and Osmos V do exist.
Kevin’s powers just happen to resemble that of Osmosisians. The existence of Servantis lied about to further manipulate Kevin.
With this idea, I think it actually holds water.
1. Osmosisians (in UAF) are supposed to grow horns in their old age. However, in Paradox, Kevin doesn’t despite being aged into an old man. I am aware the out of universe explanation is the crew simply didn’t think of this, but we are never given an in universe explanation.
2. Kevin is the only Osmosisian shown to absorb physical material, with Aggregor and the so-called Devin Levin only ever absorbing energy.
The second is much more minor, but it would hypothetically differentiate Kevin from true Osmosisians.
I am sure this has its own issues, but, hey, it’s Ben 10.
Ben 10 Runaway AU
This takes place during alien force, and with the Highbreeds an active force the plumbers are fighting against. Because the plumbers have been forced to open up to the general population in order to fight this war, the existence of aliens is a known thing and aliens can walk around in broad daylight (ppl are still space racist tho /:). Kevin is the son of Devin Levin, a famous member of the Rooters who defected after some less than ethical actions took place, and was soon killed for it. Kevin, after attempting to figure out the secret behind his father’s death, was framed for the murder of another high ranking offical, and is currently on the run from the Plumbers while trying to figure out who framed him and why.
Gwen Tennyson is the daughter of Natalie Tennyson and Frank Tennyson, who both worked as Plumbers before settling down. After her brother went off to Plumber Academy, Gwen was expected to do the same. That was until Gwen started showing her anodite powers, which caused her mother to freak out. Scared by this sudden change, her parents sent her to her grandmother, who taught her all about her powers. Gwen felt like her parents just abandoned her, not writing letters or anything. After convincing her grandmother, Gwen came back to Earth in an attempt to find her purpose in life and (eventually) confront her parents.
Ben (???) is an amesiac who crash landed to Earth in a strange pod with no idea about why he was heading there. The Omnitrix he wears is more of a gantlet around his left arm. It’s also a prototype, as it was never fully finished because Galvan Prime was destroyed in the Highbreed War. This Omnitrix can only transform certain parts of him, like his hands or feet. Transforming also drains his ‘energy’ which if he loses too much of, he will faint on the spot. Ben can ‘recharge’ through sleeping or eating non-solid food (aka smoothies). Aliens that are energy-based (like NRG or anodites) drain him a lot faster so he tends not to use them. The Omnitrix is also linked to almost all Plumber databases, with a clearance just under the Rooters level. Ben does not claim to be a part of the plumbers, however. He’s also got some other abilites but I don’t feel like covering them here lmao.
I love the idea that the rooters paid some woman to pretend to be Kevin's mom.
Can someone in the Ben 10 Fandom please explain the Servantis/Rooters storyline to me?
I know a tiny bit thanks to the Ultimate Timeline of Ben 10 and a tiny bit from appreciation clips but I want to write a crossover fanfiction that would take that storyline as the main plot for it.
I am trying to bridge the loopholes left by the retcons made in Omniverse regarding Kevin/the Rooters/Osmosians and honestly I keep going down further and further down into this spiraling abyss of world building and theories and explanations and realizations there IS HONESTLY SO MUCH SAVE ME MY BRAIN WON’T STOP
(if anyone knows any good posts talking about this send it to me)
Let's talk about one of the most controversial arcs of Omniverse, shall we?
I had created the start of an au where Crabhead Servantis experimented on the pups (and Wildcat)
No clue what to do with the Mighty Twins
Is Servantis experimenting on them while he has Kevin or after?
