anyway been thinking a lot about how this site has taken the general tendency to never talk about sex to the other extreme in ways that feel just as isolating
it's the way people think the "ideal" fic is rated mature or explicit, the way everything has to come back to sex, nearly every fandom space is obsessed with shipping dynamics and sex
people who don't always want to talk about that shouldn't have to feel like they can't express that, but they do, because the people who do like to talk about it always feel personally attacked whenever someone says that's not what they're interested in when it comes to certain media
also people who aren't as interested in talking about sex 24/7 on here get called puritanical, which bothers me for many different reasons, but a lot of it is boundaries, because apparently that's a boundary everyone is perfectly "okay" overstepping, which is frankly incredibly disrespectful to people who have a complicated relationship with sex for whatever reason
which, look, i do think talking about sex and relationships should be more normalised, but yeah, i also think it's just as weird to never talk about it as it is for that to be the only thing you can talk about
