This is horrible and I hate everything about it

For those of you that are too young to remember (or know!), radio stations used to play pre-recorded concerts and interviews nearly every weekend.  These “transcription” LPs were often played very late at night, so while you were at home doing your thing, you could tune into your favorite station (mine was WMMS in Cleveland, Ohio) and listen to something other than the regular broadcasts.

This LP, titled Rock And Roll Heart (after the Lou Reed album), is part of the “Rock & Religion” series of broadcasts, in which music is played and the host Mary Neely interviews journalists/writers about how that music relates to theological and human issues of the day.

If you can find one of these transcription LPs, then grab it and throw it on the turntable late one night, and pretend it’s a Saturday night in the early 80s.
