Today I got my comp copies of The Transition by Logan-Ashley Kisner, which I did the jacket art for, and that was already exciting in itself.
I read the author's note and I am a mess. After reading all the news in the last week or so, I am simply just a mess.

okay full review now that ive finished the transition: its bad. its like, bad. its not offensively bad but its certainly up there with one of the worst books ive read personally. maybe im biased against it, but i just found the characters very lacking and uninteresting. i cant name a single thing that the main character actually enjoys, only things that make him different degrees of miserable.
the werewolf was trying to be a billion allegories at once and so ends up saying nothing at all. it represents (simultaneously) detransition AND trans self actualization AND radical political activity AND the consuming nature of rage AND botched surgeries. it doesnt work. the werewolf didnt feel like a werewolf at all, there was a hive mind situation and nothing especially "werewolf"-y even happens aside from there being a big angry wolf and silver/monkshood. the main character never even wolfs out. it feels more like a zombie with a mind-meld, or a haunting.
the only interesting thing the werewolf did was indulge in the "wolf forcing it's way out the humans mouth" transformation (a la company of wolves), but like i said the main character never transformed so we never fully see this happen.
also. theres this weird thing that author does (maybe intentionally, maybe not) where he associates the word transsexual and trans rage with inherent violence and danger. i dont know. i felt really uncomfortable that the villain—sympathetic though he may be—exclusively referred to himself as transsexual, while the protag is only ever transgender.
i don't recommend anyone who likes werewolves read it. its overindulgent in werewolf pop culture references and just incredibly mid

MATE! GREAT FUCKING QUESTION!!! Listen up, I was in the theater to see “SPRINGSTEEN; DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE” and it was great. Obviously. Fantastic music, great story, awesome actors. It weren't the actual springsteen songs that cought my full attention though. No. Not. At. All. Don't get me wrong, the songs are a classic and Jeremy Allen White's performance was outstanding BUT the film score???? Mate, that shit got me to ascend to the ceiling of our local theater! I mean it! Especially this song:
