Buzzard’s Breakfast I often see a buzzard or a sparrow-hawk sitting on this post (at the top of the ORPA up Twmbarlwm) - he'd obviously eaten his fill today and couldn't be bothered with the claw of the shrew or whatever it was.

Twmp Spawn

Those naughty frogs have been up to it on Twmbarlwm already. One of the first signs of spring I always look for – I’m always amazed at the sheer quantity of frog spawn you find in the ponds and ruts up here. There was also a lot of Skylark activity too.

After my post of a couple of days ago I was told there was a burnt out car up on the ridgeway that may have been responsible for the vandalism – so I went up this morning to check it out for myself.

Looks too small to me to have inflicted the damage to the gate – but they might have been involved with another vehicle to take them home because they would have had a long walk home from there without transport.

Apart from the ugliness of this atrocity – it was a lovely morning up there with a very light dusting of snow – but again it was bitingly cold with a north-east wind blowing.

Thursday Destruction

– Lovely walk up the Tump this morning – beautiful sunny day – clear views – birds singing – the coming down the other side the dulcet tones of a huge digger building the turning point on the new forest road which I photographed a few weeks back.

The photo looks like an idyllic forest path – till you loook into the shadows to see the digger.

03/06/2015 Twmbarlwm Stile

Wednesday Destruction – Walk up the Tump this morning because it was such a beautiful sunny morning – it proved to be upsetting though. Discovered that the trees we had planted in the triangle on Sunday have been ripped up and stolen – photos of which I posted on Facebook and can be seen under the gallery menu. Sunday Tump

Just a short walk up the Tump today – from the car park up to ridgeway, across to ump and back down.

Very windy and bitterly cold but there was still quite a few walkers out.

Owain tried to pick a fight with a large Ridgeback but fortunately the Ridgeback was better mannered than Owain and didn’t retaliate.

Sue and dogs arrive at the top – looks cold don’t she?
