Although nobody would describe him as pleasant company, he tries to keep his more monstrous desires in check; but when it comes to the eve of Christmas, he can’t resist the call of his desires to do what he’s supposed to, and he feels himself shift and move into a form that’s altogether more monstrous and more frightening than any other. - Abbacchio doesn’t target children. As a younger creature - much, much younger - he used to, because that’s what he was taught to do. He’s not the only Krampus in Italy, but he has full reign of his own domain. In this case - the Italian Mafia. - He tries not to let his human side interfere too much with his duties of punishment, but somehow anybody whose slighted Buccellati will find themselves strung up and left out to bleed on Christmas Eve. The legends say that Krampus punishes children; Abbacchio, horned and on monstrous legs with a sharp grin with a mouthful of fangs, does more than punish. A belt and a switch are not enough for him; his domain is full of evildoers whose crimes are far more heinous. - A mere beating is not enough for them. And, if he’s lucky, there’ll have been enough evil committed to satiate the more monstrous desires that lay dormant within him for the rest of the year.
