For so long, I was afraid of these appointments and putting this robe on. Afraid that each visit was ticking down to finding a suspicious lump. To go experience what my mom had to go through. Now two years out from my #doublemastectomy, I’m not afraid of these appointments or this robe anymore. While my risk of #breastcancer has been dramatically reduced, I still go to my doctors to talk all things #brca. I’m lucky to have a community of badass women there to support me when I need it. I can’t even begin to describe this weekend and spending time with some beautiful and badass #ambassadors of @the_breasties ❤️. This weekend was full of learning from each other, emotions, and most importantly, love. I love everything that this community stands for, and I’m so incredibly lucky to be a part of such an inspirational group. I’m learning to love myself just as much as I love all of my #breasties (which if you’ve met me, is A LOT 🤣😉). This weekend was magical and helped me realize that it’s okay to not be okay. That I can lean back on those in this community for help, without feeing like a burden. I had the privilege to attend the second annual #movemountainsgala in #nyc last night. Just when I thought @the_breasties out did themselves, they knocked last night out of the park. When I hear the word #brave, I think of this moment. That’s what this picture represents to me. Five women, different in so many ways, yet connected through one similar experience. I look to these women, and all my #breasties for strength and #bravery when I need it. They’re such an inspiration, and loving them through the good times and tough times keeps me going.
