Clive Staples Lewis was born on November 29th, 1898 in Belfast in Ulster, Ireland to Albert James Lewis, a solicitor and Florence Augusta Lewis.

He had an older brother, Warren Hamilton Lewis (AKA ‘Warnie”)

Lewis married American writer Helen Joy Davidman Gresham on April 23rd, 1956 and gained two stepson’s from the marriage (David Lindsay and Douglas Howard Gresham). They remained devoted to one another until her death in July 1960 from bone cancer.

He began his career at Oxford University where he won triple honours in three areas of study.  He gained acclaim for his series, 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. 

He is regarded as one of the most influential apologists for his works “Mere Christianity” and “The Screwtape Letters”.
