Just in case you were wondering where I was this weekend, I was in Atlanta for my cousin, Johnny Cummings' (@j_smooth662), birthday party. #bowlero Sorry I didn't get to post at all this weekend, if you are one of the faithful people who follow my pages, but I am back on the grind now. #atlanticstation I try my earnest to post every single day, but sometimes, life just prohibits me from doing this. #escaperooms Prayerfully, I can always post consistently, but every once in a while, it is just impossible to do when I have a lot of things going on. It would be nice to be able to have people help me to post, on a daily basis; LORD willing, maybe I will one day. #escaperoom From the photos you see, two of the festivities that we got into was bowling and an escape room. We went bowling at a place called Bowlero Atlantic Station. I was not a fan of the bowling alley, because every lane we shrinked, compact, and tiny. I had no room to really curve my ball. The ultimate workplace revenge story! 😯

Vincent, Sylvie, Sam, and Jules are the best at what they do. Working in finance has afforded each of them a life of extreme luxury. When they receive a compulsory team building exercise in an escape room, they all dutifully turn up eager to show off their competitive sides. When when the AC switches off along with the lights and the time ticks past 70 minutes, they know this is no ordinary escape room. Who will make it out alive?

I loved the alternating POV on this cautionary tale of workplace opportunism and greed gone wrong. As someone who works in corporate America, this definitely resonates and it was easy finding myself siding with Sara and even frustrated by her blind allegiance to the company. I recommend this for those looking for an unconventional corporate thriller.

I picked up The Escape Room after reading Night Swim by Megan Goldin last year. “A group from A Wall Street investment firm heads up an elevator to a mandatory meeting. They are headed to an Escape Room team building exercise but soon discover that the elevator is what they’ll have to escape from. This group has a terrible secret and someone has found out...” Lots of characters to dislike in this book 😡 and a couple you’ll pull for. There are hints about what’s going on but Goldin does a good job keeping you guessing. She does not paint a pretty picture of investment banking or the people there. How much money does one person need? Are 80 hour weeks worth it? This is a revenge story. It goes back and forth from the elevator to the back story. So many sociopaths 😮 A couple of things you have to accept but good ending from Goldin. A great audiobook performance. Lots of character voices in this one. It will make you think as the elevator door closes the next time.
