Ok i am intrigued by ALL of those WIP titles & a sucker for mystery acronyms & also just generally love the word "moot" but I think I am most curious about "the heir house" 👀

P h e w that one I came up with in late hs and is a weird stab at stream of consciousness / a retelling of The Secret Garden where Colin is a monster inside the house, Mary is the heir of the house who has come to claim it and defeat him, Martha is replaced by a local village girl who is the same age as Mary and hired to be her personal maid and is ofc in love with the Dickon character (but then ofc Mary falls for him too) annnd who knows where it was even supposed to go from there? I didn’t know then and I don’t know now oop; I also think I had the idea to make Colin Secretly Good and Dickon Secretly Evil cause I love a Good Twist 

Opening: 

From the distance the house was a scarlet smear against the sky. 

Close, it thrust livid, cutting into azure, harsh, insistent, commanding the eye of any living thing for miles, blistering in the mind of passing travelers where the image festered and would not heal. 

The manor’s foundations had pooled in the loam for centuries. The neighbors avoided day’s banner and night’s spark, and east in the village they whispered in close places of the heir house and captive, and had fattened rumors into legend and grown drunk on twisting fables. 

Brief summary of the other WIPs: 

Moot = dystopian Peter Pan retelling set in a Mad Maxish world (very very original, also a hs idea)

SMBS = Sailor Moon Boarding School, originally a fic I want to make not a fic 

PAANSG = Pansy As A Necromantic Sorcerer Genealogist, also a fic whose ideas were too big to be constrained to the HP universe, I was asked to write a Draco/Hermione fic and ofc immediately launched into a Neville/Pansy fic sorry not sorry 

W I T C H = dark fantasy romance series lolol I’ve got most of the first book in it written already 

I’ve made $789.27 self-publishing erotica on amazon but it at least motivates me to keep writing the fun stuff cause if I can get passive income then I can fund covers etc for all the stuff I really want to write; this is not an original strategy in the least

I'm going to send old school Buffy/Spike as I'm intrigued about favorite moments there!

Ooh, a tricky one for me! I don’t dislike Spuffy but I have never felt super connected to it either, so it’s always been a weird fangirling sitch. Honestly, they are at their very best for me when they are hilarious bickering adversaries with no actual urgent enmity circa season four, because their comedic chemistry is just so god dang fun, so I think I’m going to say just, like, ALL their under-a-spell moments together in “Something Blue.” The good times in that ep, they are legendary!! SPIKE LIPS. LIPS OF SPIKE.

^this. different specifics, of course, but I totally feel the fics dully screaming at the back of my head since ‘07. 2018-Me is all about giving into wherever the inspiration-fire drives you, since I’ve found when I’m inspired about one thing and try to right the other… I end up writing nothing at all

(and I remain bummed that new!canon wraps up the war v. the Empire so soon after Endor, because years of Rebellion-trying-to-become-a-Republic v. Imperial Remnant always appealed to me and a high-budget X-Wing TV series- the stuff of my childhood dreams- could actually be possible now if they’d left room for it in the timeline…)

off topic but I LOVED THE X-WING SERIES AS A KID!!!! that was my jam :D wedge and lando also had some adventures together in lando’s book trilogy iirc and that was also delightful. 

but hard same to your comment about the war being wrapped up too quickly. in some ways it hasn’t been wrapped up quickly because the first order ~rose from the ashes of the empire or whatever they’re taglining it with these days, but it sure doesn’t feel the same. the legends new republic felt shaky, barely in control in those early years, and the rebellion/new republic had to do a lot of work to shut down the grand moffs who wanted to set themselves up as the next emperor and all the governors who still ruled over Imperial worlds. there was so much meat to dive into! and then luke had his own shtick of trying to find records of the jedi (I still think children of the jedi did a great job with answering how the jedi lived) which let him run into all these other worlds we’d never heard of before. the new canon feels smaller and more narrow. it’s also complicated by how the new republic somehow....doesn’t want to fight or recognize that the first order exists? what a fuckin’ dumb move to make narratively and politically. the only point of that seems to be so that there can be another ragtag team of scrappy rebels/resisters operating outside the confines of government so that the movies can call back on the feel of the original trilogy.

anyway, if we could get an x-wing tv series that would be FANTASTIC.

that is a very good point. in that case i’ll probably mix them up a bit, read a few from each series at a time, see how that goes. (i mean, at the moment i’m reading episode i adventures because i have no standards and the hole in my spreadsheet was annoying me more than actually reading the books, so it’s not as if i’m consistent in my reading habits anyhow)

have to agree on the name, BUT I do like that it’s a deliberate nod to Ye Olde Video Game version of stealing the Death Star plans and particularly one of the elements from it brought into canon by Rogue One (the darktroopers, thanks, Star Wars Wiki). So…I’m torn, because I like the nod to those otherwise uncredited creators & I like the subversion of our-world-accent-association of having Cassian be from an ice planet. but with the modern use of “fest” it’s… weird.

I dislike it even more for the video game, lol.

I do like the icy hell concept, though.
