Thinking about my many quick trips to NYC for Body and Soul parties. It was near the end of their weekly event in lower Manhattan. I was blessed to experience these 3 masters of the craft. @francoisknyc @dannykrivit @joeclaussellsplayground, Amongst many different walks of life, African, Latin, White, Gay and Straight. It’s the closest I could get to the loft and the garage. It was its own paradise. 💕 The sounds that I was ultimately drawn to by Frankie and Chicago’s own Ron Hardy, as well as Lil Louis, who lead my ears to the dreamy deep work of Larry heard. We can have conversations about those who exclusively played one genre. When I look through these pics and consider the sounds, I see djs who selected and made music of all genres. It was played with the hope of making people dance, making people happy. The radio took cues from them. People respected the art, allowed the dj to navigate the journey and gave them respect on the dance floor. We shall dance and make happier tomorrow @thehappierhouratl @woodwardandpark : : : #thehappierhour #thehappierhouratl #soul #disco #rnb #soulfulhouse #afrohouse #jazz #chicago #nyc #atl #findingfathomdj #djs #maturemusic #musichistory (at Atlanta, Georgia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTsV41MP-Pt/?utm_medium=tumblr
