Whats the difference between Wukong & Macaque and the other Monkey Demons in your AU? Bc they look pretty much the same so is it a power thing? I mean what makes Wukong look at Macaque and be “he’s like me”?

Short answer: It’s like an essence type of thing and visually they have unique eyes and face masks that are distinct from monkey demons.

Long answer: Essence wise, Wukong and Macaque technically are celestial beings and not actually demons, so their energies are more attune to those from the celestial realm than their demon counterparts, however they are still different from normal celestial beings, which is why they’re technically considered unique world changing beings. This is why they have an entirely different power level than those that monkey demons can even imagine of achieving. Their eyes show their celestial heritage by having golden colors both in their iris and sclera, a window to the large amounts of magic they are capable of.

Visually they’re not distinct as much ( cause 1) I can’t draw animals that well so I stuck with making monkey demons more humanoid instead of struggling since canon wise monkey demons are more like monkeys but oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) which is why it’s easy for them all to pass as each other and live together. Both Macaque and Wukong like I mentioned have distinct eyes from monkey demons but also they have their red face masks with their unique shapes, something that no other monkey demons have. The shapes that the monkey demons have in my comics are actually fur outlines in their faces, I was imitating the fur outlines of the actual lmk monkeys, so they don’t have the same face mask shapes as Mac and Wukong, instead I like to hc that both of them are actually more humanoid that the monkey demons, which means that they also have distinct habits/instincts than those from their demon counterparts.

So when Wukong saw Macaque for the first time it was an instant click.

From far away monkey demons and celestial primates may look the same but they are really REALLY different.
