THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU 24"x24" 1.5" deep My first English Lit class at Miami University. Oh how I loved it. It was my first awareness that it's all connected - English, history, math, science, LIFE - a sublime moment. Now, in my own Art Studio almost three decades later, I understand the tug I felt and would continue to feel in each of my English classes as the professors tried to get us to understand, define and categorize the AUTHOR. What did she mean? What was her intent? Etc etc etc. What the hell? I can remember that it did not feel good to me. At the time, I thought something was wrong with me. Fast forward to last week, when I experienced an incredible artist speak about her work in such a free manner and then later, attendees wanting to understand her - what was her intent? What was her inspiration? What did she mean when she painted this or that? And I felt that familiar tug and my eyes burned with tears. There is nothing wrong with me. And there is nothing wrong with you. We are dynamic energy beings that CANNOT BE DEFINED OR UNDERSTOOD. Yet we have been trained to do so and it seems normal. When I sat down to do this painting, I giggled.
