Snippet of a Miraculous Ladybug WIP
The Painted Lady (Katara)
I thought a long time about this one too... and eventually decided that reasonably acquirable clothing made more sense than worrying too much about what inspired the Painted Lady as a ghost/concept. So I went with Ming clothing, complete with her iconic mili/veiled hat. The seashell is a little out of place but eh... it felt like a fun tie in to her river/lake.

Fire Lord Zuko and The Painted Lady
(There's an argument to be made that they match in Ming Dynasty? Minus the Painted Lady details I suppose, but I made this for fun.)

These three have to have a team name right? They can't be called the PowerPuff Girls...
(Left to right: Tylee, Azula and Mai)
(Reoccurring disclaimer for this art series: This is for fun, they are inspired by the show's costume designs and then extrapolated out with historical fashion or things I think will be fun to draw. These are not meant to be accurate, only inspired. I hope you like them!)

Princess Yue of the Northern Water Tribe
Finally in the Northern Water Tribe at the end of Book 1! We meet the wonderful Princess Yue and shenanigans ensue. I wanted the Northern and Southern Water Tribes to have related yet distinct tastes in fashion. Yue is still wearing a fantasy combination of Inuit/Yakut/Mongolian clothing but with a little bit of Great Plains Indigenous Regalia. Oh and her very important hair reference to Chinese "fairy maidens" (It's a Tang* Dynasty hairstyle associated with minor deities).

The Gaang in the Fire Nation (minus Zuko)
(Before you say anything about Zuko not being included I had to cut some redesign ideas at this stage and Ember Island Zuko was one of the ones that didn't make the cut. I sacrificed it so I could draw Fire Lord Zuko.) It's so cute to see them together!!

And for our Grand Finale of 2025's historical mermaids, the much requested: Iara, of Brazil.
In Tupi mythology there is a mermaid-like myth. A young woman named Iara is drowned, but returns as a half-fish maid known for drowning river-goers in retribution.
THIS MERMAID IS NOT IN THE mermaid colouring book! She's brand-new in comparison to the other mermaids in this series.
There are also PDF copies available!
