May you do this request please?: A platonic relationship Lifty, Shifty, and a human-turned-raccoon child reader
alright! might not explicity say in the HCs that reader was a human, as imma say reader was 2-ish when they fell into the world and turned into a raccoon, so reader thinks they've always been a raccoon
LIFTY & SHIFTY + CHILD READER SIBLING HCs
LITTLE THING OF TEXT AS THE PRECURSOR TO THE MAIN HCs:
Lifty and Shifty were in the middle of their Tuesday routine, just trying to steal from Giggles while she wasn't home. As they left her treehouse home and vanished into the woods with their stolen goods, they came across a small child. A (you choose your color) raccoon. While Lifty was distracted by this sight, Shifty shoved him down and stole the stuff Lifty was carrying and took off in the car. Lifty cursed out Shifty under his breath but turned his attention back to the small creature. It looked at him and crawled towards him. Lifty smiled, remembering he and Shifty's first heist, at the young age of 7. As the young raccoon crawled into his arms, Lifty's smile faltered, remembering his past. "I NEVER wanted you two, get out of my house!" their mother had yelled, kicking the just four year old twins out of their tree home. Lifty remembered he and his brother's struggle to survive on the streets, and realized he couldn't just leave you there. He scooped the small raccoon up, and started the long journey home (Shifty would pick him up like 6 hours later).
HEADCANONS:
Reader is now 14-17 here, y'all can decide
Reader is the getaway driver
You three quarrel often (wholesome moments happen randomly, these two are unpredictable and I feel like reader would pick up on that from a young age and be as unpredictable as them)
I feel like, not knowing how to raise a child, Shifty would drop you on Pop's doorstep and you showed up in their house randomly until Shifty just gave up and agreed with Lifty to adopt you as a sibling
^ They struggled a lot; they're thieves, not fathers
They help you with your homework, quite well actually
They trust you with the money because of Shifty's gambling problem
Lifty and Shifty break into each others' rooms all the time to bother each other, and they'd do that with you (they wouldn't steal from you though) (but they will mess with your stuff sometimes) (don't ask why all of your books are duct taped to the ceiling fan now)
You'd probably be closer to Lifty because Shifty screws over the gang more often than Lifty does (that doesn't mean Shifty does not care, though) (he does, he's just affectionately aggressive)
They insult each other for funsies, you all call each other idiots as a form of affection
Lifty and Shifty tend to roughhouse with one another, with Shifty initiating 98% of the wrestling, and they will drag you into it sometimes
Lifty is the kinder sibling, expect more gifts and stuff from him
^ Shifty just leaves poorly wrapped gifts in your room, he does not know how to properly show care
Hope you enjoy @jetecat! I had fun writing this entire thing.
Writing as if there is no death in Happy Tree Town yet again
I had fun writing the little angst segment of Lifty and Shifty's backstory. I quite enjoy the "two siblings from a broken family kicked out at a young age learn to survive on the streets, and once they're old enough to survive without each other, they start acting like normal siblings and fighting occasionally" trope. Also random tidbit but I feel like people need to learn that twins aren't the same people, they're just siblings but identical, so you should write them as different entities.
Shoutout to @friesofthefancyvariety and @trinitytheprotogen for helping with this
