etho is aroace. he doesn't talk about it too much, mostly because he didn't realize for a pretty long time, but something that gem was talking about while they were hanging out as EGG made him look into it, and although he's pretty quiet about it, it makes him feel more comfortable to have the lable :)

on Etho’s REAL birthday, Gem and Grian don’t know about it so they don’t set anything up, but Etho doesn’t want them to, anyways

instead, he spends the day quietly hanging out with his friends—more so than ever, pretty much. he gets breakfast with Bdubs (who is the only one who actually knows it’s his birthday, and makes them a few cupcakes to share) and he helps his friends with the projects they’re working on. he’ll pull them away from their work for quality time. maybe working on a redstone device with Grian, or braiding Gem’s hair (which he NEVER asks to do so she was very excited when he did) or dragging Bdubs and Joel off to play a game.

it’s nothing over-the-top, which is how Etho prefers it. he finishes the day by inviting the entire server to his base, and as his birthday comes to a close, they all watch the sunset together <3

aw! That’s so sweet! Such a relaxing day, fitting for such a chill guy.

Pearl, with her fleet of vehicles, needs a little bit of help to keep them clean! I mean, four fire trucks and a boat is a little bit much for one gal! So she will invite anyone who wants to come to help clean up the fleet, which normally devolves into spraying each other with water and soap in an all out cleaning war, or racing to see who can clean a truck the fastest. She's just happy she can keep Certain People (EGG and Scar) entertained with water instead of fire for a little bit.

When a new hermit joins the server, they must fill out a form so that Xisuma and the other hermits can learn more about them and use that information to help them adjust to the server. Most of these are just simple questions (likes, dislikes, allergies, triggers, etc.).

However, there is an ulterior motive to it.

When it is a hermit's birthday (or any other day that they celebrate involving gift giving), Joe goes all out. Not in a large party type way, but just a small gift bag left inside or by the doorstep of the hermit's base. It's usually something the hermit likes (like a favorite treat or something they collect) or needs for a project or personal need (like supplies or clothing for colder/warmer weather).

In the 14+ years he has been on the server, no one knows it was him all along. Even Cleo and Xisuma don't know he does it.

Bonus pride headcanon:

Doc's bionic eye can be any colour, and even automatically cycle between different ones. So, during pride month, he programmes it to fade through the colours of a different flag every day. He still doesn't quite understand what each of them are or mean, despite Gem and Cleo's constant assistance. ('Wait? Isn't this the omnibus pride flag?' 'Omnisexual? Close, but that's the genderfluid flag.' 'People identify as liquids?! Who liquified their gender????'). But still, he's trying his best, in that confused Dad way, and learning so much about the LGBTQIA+ community as he goes! 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

They are all queer, they host their own pride parade and drag brunch, grian is Ariana griande obviously, scar does something padme inspired, doc wears a Victorian dress, and jevin just moves their slime around to appear more fem. Xisuma wears a dress over the armor

What I think some of the hermits would bring to a potluck

Grian- Bread (He made it himself, but doesn't say it at first in case people think it's bad.)

Mumbo- He brought basically every vegetable he grows and made a veggie platter.

Scar- He decided to bring out his old cotton candy machine. Totally not because he burnt his pie...

Skizz, Impulse, Tango, Zed- They all teamed up to try and smoke a turkey. Tango had attempted to do it alone, but the other 3 put a stop to that. That did lead to Zed trying to use anything but a smoker, but it still turned out ok.

Joel- He couldn't be bothered to cook anything, so he just bought some sprinkled sugar cookies. He did cook once, but that was just to prove to Gem that he can. He regrets that now, because people will not shut up about it.

Etho- He brought his famous punch, cups, and a ladle. He's the only one that serves the punch.

Gem- She brought alcohol to try and spike Etho's punch bowl. She's tried every potluck, yet failed every time.

Pearl- Soup.
