what inspired you to get into film & would you ever be interested in directing?

I’ve wanted nothing else but to be a storyteller and filmmaker my entire life. I’ve always had pretty set goals and I’m good at working towards them. I knew I wanted to go to Emerson when I was 13. I knew how competitive it was so I knew I had to have a solid portfolio to get in and that was my goal before I graduated high school.

A few months after I made the decision I showed up at the network that broadcast my favorite show back home and I pestered the producer until he agreed to let me intern there. After I convinced the producer all I had to do was convince my parents and starting then until I graduated high school my life was basically go to school then straight to the network to tape the shows. I started in one show, then I quickly became friends with the producers and the host of the show that came right before it and started working there as well. By the time I was 15 I was a Co-Producer on both shows and had my own daily segments to prep for. I’d also worked in films that came to shoot in the DR and worked on my own stuff that started winning awards and screening in different parts of the world. With the resume and experience I had by the time I was 18, I knew Emerson would be silly to not accept me so it was the only school I applied to and I got in. While in college I was in every extracurricular and involved in every production. Apart from my regular classes and all the other things I did at Emerson, I was the Documentary Producer on the EVVYs - the largest student run live award show in the world - for three consecutive years. I directed a $350k feature film when I was a junior in college. My first job out of college was as a producer on an Academy/Emmy award winning production company and I had management within 2 months of graduating. 

I’ve always known what I want to do with my life and I fucking bust my ass because I also know this is an industry dominated by straight white men. I have to go above and beyond to even be looked at the same way as a dude. Film is hard, but if I take a no bullshit and unapologetic approach to it your chances of success increase greatly. 

In terms of the directing question, directing is what I do. Directing is what I majored in. I graduated with a 3.6 GPA and a degree in Directing Narrative Fiction with minors in Photography and Music Appreciation. I have a team that handles my writing/directing career. I’ve signed onto direct several more features next year which are all currently in either development or pre-prod at the moment. re: denise's death. on the talking dead, the actor playing eugene said how it easily could have been eugene. It easily could have been ANYONE and it was a stray arrow meant for daryl. People are still upset over lexa's death from the 100, and tara lost yet ANOTHER girlfriend bc of the apocalypse. Denise was relatable with her anxiety and the fact that she is queer, and it honestly seemed like a shock value death when it could have been anyone or just taken her eyes or just injured her. -cont

They just created a gay character to support the storyline then killed them in the shittiest way as possible. Twd for the most part, a good show, but I don’t agree w/ them on the way they killed this character
