EMERGENCY THEORY CORNER!!!
So not too long ago, I was, once again, thinking about Curse of the Blood Moon and ... well, there was something that came to mind that I actually haven't heard anyone talk about, two things actually and I wanted to take the time to talk about with all of you. Now let me say this now, if you noticed this yourself, or know someone else who has, good for you or them, just because I haven't seen anyone else talk about this doesn’t mean no one has. Now lets get started.
The first thing I wanted to talk about is ... a not so hypothetical question; what would happen if the box of truth asked two people who were cursed by the blood moon if they had a crush one someone? Will it see the feelings that result from the curse as the truth? Or will it see those feelings as a lie. Now I bet a lot of people can see where I’m going with this already, but let me continue.
Now, let’s start with the boxes words.
Now look at it closely, it’s saying that if you lie, even if you thought it was the truth, you will be punished. Now I don’t know about you, but that sounds like it means that it doesn’t see the curse as the truth. Thankfully, we just happen to know two people who were effected by the curse so we can test our little theory.
Subject A: Star Butterfly
And Subject B: Marco Diaz
We know that these two are ... were, under the curse and at the time of this episode, should have had feelings for each other as a result of that curse. That means that when the box asks them who they have a crush on, if they don’t say each other and the box doesn’t punish them, then we will know that the box sees the curse as truth, but if they say no and the box does punish them, then it doesn’t see the curse as truth.
Now let’s see what hap-HEY, YOU IN THE BACK! PUT DOWN YOUR PITCHFORK, I’M NOT DONE YET!
Now where was I? Oh yes, what happened when they answered?
So they both say they don’t have a crush on each other (or effectively say that)
And the box says that they lied.
Now normally ... I SAID TO PUT THAT PITCHFORK DOWN! Geez, the nerve of some people. Now normally, this would mean that the box does see the curse as the truth ... buuuuuut, there's one more piece of evidence we have yet to truly look at.
Not so long after this, Marco does a little speech.
(thank goodness I still have those pictures, saves me so much time)
Now the speech itself isn’t important to what we’re talking about right now, but the box’s response is.
The box is telling us that Marco told the truth, that his feelings are for Jackie, but he has the curse which gives him feelings for Star ... so I ask you why did it say that someone lied here? For the purpose of this theory, let’s assume that no one else, aside from Star lied, which I feel no shame in assuming because at the end we get
And we can assume that it’s talking about Marco because Star just shouted his name.
Now, back to my question, why would the box think that the curse is true for Star, but not Marco? The answer is the simplest thing in the world.
Because, in addition to the curse, Star has genuine feelings for Marco at this point. It is the only explanation (other than it being a continuity error which is possible because this happened probably before curse was scripted, but for our purpose, let’s assume that’s not the case) cause if it did think the curse was the truth, then it wouldn’t have told Marco that he was telling the truth (Both Star and Marco would have had a crush on someone else at this point, the person they named, if the box did think the curse was the truth, then Star should have been able to get away with naming Oskar like Marco named Jackie). Now at this point in time, Marco doesn’t have genuine feelings for Star yet, and we can’t actually prove that he ever did sadly. But we can prove that Star did at one point have feelings for Marco that weren’t a result of the curse.
I do have another thing I wanted to talk about ... that will probably rob you of that good mood I put you in.
Now, let’s talk about curse.
In the episode, we get ... some things that people are looking over. First, someone very important tells Marco something important.
The “them” Eclipsa is talking about are Marco’s feelings for Star, and although we know that his feelings are a result of the curse, she does speak from experience. Bottom line, this is a warning that he shouldn’t rush to get rid of his feelings ... a warning ... that he outright ignores. And before anyone says that she didn’t know that his feelings weren’t natural, let me point you to something else.
The transcript for this episode isn’t on the wiki yet, this scene is very long, and I need to go to sleep so let me give you the abridged version of what’s happening here, Relicor is saying that he did what Star and Marco are about to do and he regretted it ever since and that he will never be able to undo it, also, the shattering severing stone says the same thing. That the severing is permanent. Another obvious warning that Star and Marco ignore. And now is my favorite part.
They are having second thoughts, on the matter, that’s three instances of “this is a very bad idea”
Now from my previous theory that you can see just above, Star does have feelings for Marco that arn’t a result of the blood moon curse ... but, and this is the part that has a lot of Starco fans sad, what if the severing stone also get’s rid of those genuine feelings, in addition to the curse. That would mean that this moment
Is bitter sweet, because they realize their feelings for each other, moments before they are taken away.
Now I know a lot of people think that this isn’t the case, that the stone only severed the curse ... but ... then why were their two warnings? I believe that the severing stone really did cut away any honest feelings for each other, in addition to the curse, and I will continue to think this until there is some hint that their feelings are still there, which I don’t see happening any time soon.
