Elena hadn’t expected much when she’d showed up at Caroline’s for the sleep over. She suspected it was going to simply be another night of Caroline trying to cheer her up, something she hadn’t yet succeeded at. A bitter part of Elena thought she was nothing but Caroline’s current project, something she could focus on until she got bored and moved onto the next one. The bigger part of Elena knew that wasn’t true, that she was just angry at everything and not her friend. At least she’d managed to not snap at the blonde or share her thoughts. Elena knew Caroline was going through just as tough a time, after all she’d lost Bonnie. But she was determined to make the best of it, she hadn't seen her best friend in months, she had actually been doing her best to avoid her for this very reason and yet now here she was, about do have some bonding time, time she didn't plan to enjoy. Still Caroline needed it, or at least Elena hoped she needed it, but.. but she didn't want to talk about what had happened. She didn't want to go over ways that they could get them back, at the moment Elena wanted to pretend like it hadn't ever happened because it was the only way she knew how to move forward, to not spend her entire day crying in her room like she had for the first week.
