Sunday Sermon: Lessons on Independence - @jeffsnation —- “I’m clear that I’m entering a season calling for ALL of me to show up and I’m excited about it. I’ve spent two decades with people thinking I primarily care about politics & activism. That was a blessed box that “I” let become a prison. I’ve always been me. But if you only show one part of you long enough, others think it’s all of you. And the moment you try to show them an equally authentic, but different part of you it’s often perceived as inauthentic or people are like, “yeah…I just want the old you.” Damn!! Over the last 6 years of committing specifically to listening to, serving, and building for black men, I realized how hard it is for us to fully show up. That shit can be dangerous. In love, on the street, in business, hell, all aspects of life. I don’t mean showing everyone everything. But BEING all of you without a second thought. And most of us have had no model of that transparency connecting to power. Power: The ability to aggressively imagine and pursue that which you were put on earth to do. I want POWER. To be whole, feel, thrive, and walk in power I gotta be ALL of me. And I’m about to do that shit with reckless abandon. So, I know this post ain’t for everyone. But I can’t encourage and support my Brothers to discover the fullness of their power if I don’t. And it won’t look the same for all of us if it’s honest. So see me, hear me, evolve with me. And if you don’t feel it, just try to understand me. And if you don’t like it, know it’s honest enough to unfollow me, but full of too much integrity to cancel me. And if you do that, fuck you anyway. You can’t cancel me from a culture you didn’t create and are barely adding to. But I digress. I’ll see you, hear you, and honor your truth just the same. My point is this. I could give a damn about America’s 4th of July. But this weekend I am Declaring Independence from not walking in the fullness of my Kingliness.
