The Dalai Lama talks about how the best way to change the way you feel about the world is to change yourself first I’ve been contemplating this a lot lately. “Be the change you want to see in the world.” It’s everywhere. But what does it really mean, what does it mean to change yourself, to make your physical being any different? It’s hard to look within, your eyes tell you everything about the world around you. That’s usually where you turn when you feel like you need something different, like something’s missing. You buy something or move somewhere or meet someone, you change your environment, right? I always seem to feel this and it’s always such an erratic feeling. The need for more in my physical environment doesn’t ever go away. I don’t meditate too often, but it’s important to remind yourself that your mind is where you are living, and nowhere else. You are the home of your soul, your happiness depends on your thoughts, your thoughts build the walls that your soul is living in, it’s all in the mind. I was reading this little book about consciousness and it talked about how everyone has energy either contracting or expanding constantly, and when you feel consciousness and peacefulness and a wider understanding your energy expands out further into the universe. It’s a little far fetched, but when I close my eyes, with no distractions and really look within my mind and within myself I feel my mind and my energy expanding, look into the corners of your mind and you’ll discover that there are no corners, that your mind can do anything. Realise this and you’ll find a power within yourself that you’ve been looking for everywhere else, find a way to be at peace with only just your mind, spend time within yourself and find comfort. Build a home there, it’s the one thing you can take with you everywhere.
