I wanna talk about Therapy Bros so bad but the demographic for it is like three people and my cat
“You’re so talented. I’ll never know what you’re doing with someone as worthless as me. 🍀”
Welcome to my downward spiral, more Fukamaeda !! ✨
Remind me
It starts with a twitch of her fingers. A ripple down her arm. Hands clench and unclench and suddenly she is too much.
She cannot remember where she ends. Her skin is paper thin and it unravels. There is so much of her. Hurt and pain and anger and sadness. Anguish. She is space and time uncountable. She is the sea. Water fills her mouth and she is drowning. She is drowning.
The arms are warm and smell of stale tobacco and drink. The touch is hesitant, soft. Hands, large and calloused, travel across her neck, her shoulder, her back. They brush the hair from her face and it sways (but does not float). Whispers tumble from his mouth. Lullabies half remembered, sharp and painful in his mouth. But he sings, voice deep and whiskey burned. Her hands find his shoulders and her nose burrows in his chest.
She has a nose. She has fingers and legs, ears and eyes, and a mouth, filled with air as she sobs and sobs and sobs. His arms pull her back into shape and press her there. Fingers trail to remind her. Neck, arms, back, cheeks.
You end here and here and here.
I am your family and you are the shape of me.
Therapy AU
Jack and Bitty meet because they have the same therapist in the morning.
Bitty shows up right on time but Jack gets there stupid early so they usually see each other in passing in the waiting room
Bitty is still there when jack gets done bc Bitty is waiting for his ride, so at some point jack is just like “I can give you a ride, lil dude, basket cases gotta stick together”
They bond over their therapist who is a uhhh Character
Like she always comes in with a big Starbucks cup that she says has “virgin mimosa” in it, or a virgin screw driver, or a virgin tequila sunrise.
“JUST SAY ITS FUCKING ORANGE JUICE WOMAN”
Their therapist has dumb memes and cartoons on her walls and a real devil may care attitude. Usually therapists seem sad and detached but their therapist is Not
“Has she started you on Nerf gun therapy yet?” “What no!?!?”
One week Jack misses a session and the next week Bitty is all like “where were you did you die???” So they exchange numbers so they can text during the week
Bitty sends jack a lot of drunk texts. Not sexy texts, but like “do you think...trees have feelings” and “on a scale of one to ten...I’m drunk” and “I struggle every day with my attention disorder, and tonight it’s winning” with blurry pics of a dozen pies
And then there’s jokes they have just because their therapist talks shit
Chief amongst them: “wait, you’re GAY?” (Usually said in response to something completely innocuous, like preferring ham to turkey in sandwiches)
Then there’s “I can’t do that because of HIPPA. (Said whenever someone wants you to do something mildly inconvenient, or because it’s an actual HIPPA violation)
“Earlier I [verbed] so hard, [public figure] gonna fine me.” As in, “yesterday I slept so hard, the sandman’s gonna fine me.” Or “this morning I baked so hard, Betty Crocker gonna fine me.” When Jack gets going, it gets more niche and elaborate as time goes by.
“I turned the lights on so hard, Edison gonna fine me”
“Wait you’re GAY??”
And Jack and Bitty help each other so much. Jack helps slow Bitty down and pull him out of an obsession spiral. And Bitty helps jack practice social situations and have more conversations. But it’s not a perfect balance.
Bc they’re both impulsive and struggle with moderation so when they fuck up they fuck up spectacularly.
Therapist: i saw you on the news, can you tell me a little about that?
Jack: mmmmm...so Bittle...May have started climbing the building. And implied that I was too chicken to follow him. And I know it’s important to get out there more sooooo
Therapist: you scaled a sky scraper and made the news.
Jack: I did it with a friend, relationships outside of hockey are important
Therapist: damnit don’t use my excellent therapy against me
(Earlier) Bitty: I bought a car!
Therapist: and you drove it into a river!
Bitty: but just the once!
Therapist: Because it’s still in the river!
Jack and Bitty: therapy bros
