My husband watches The Untamed, vol. 2: eps. 8-10
We didn't have as much entertaining heckling to report. It's kind of a disjointed and odd in-between episode; not quite to the truly "good stuff" yet.
There was just this of amusement value: "No bunnies were thrown in the making of this series...well, okay, one."
And when Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were fighting the dancing fairy, and Nie Huaisang was hiding behind a rock and watching, my husband said, "Charlie! Some help?" Apparently he decided to call NHS "Charlie" since he couldn't remember his name.
When they’re cornered by the zombie villagers in the fairy’s cave, and Wei Wuxian puts up the net-like shield, husband said, “We’re going to play tennis? Badminton?”
When Wen Qing turned out to be drawing the villagers away with her flute (recorder?), he said, “Huh! Didn’t expect that,” then: “So is she doing the same music magic as Shipper Brother?” I had called Lan Xichen that a few times in earlier episodes. Apparently it caught on.
Laughed a lot at a couple of cheeky WWX lines: “Obviously, it’s making use of my wisdom” (when Lan Wangji says the hallucination spell is stronger for those with a lot of thoughts in their head), and of course “she must like Lan Zhan!” (regarding the Dancing Fairy).
We also agreed that Wen Ruohan’s interior décor makes it pretty obvious he’s evil.
Me regarding Meng Yao: “His dimples are out of this world.”
Husband: “He looks like one of the Thermians.” [The friendly aliens from the film Galaxy Quest.]
When Nie Mingjue first appears: “THAT’s his brother?” *busts into peals of laughter*
Truly, Nie Huaisang could not be more different from his bro.
We both want to know why it’s called the Unclean Realm. That’s really not a name that invites tourism. But then, Nie Mingjue doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who’d welcome tourism either.
We decided the director’s instructions to Wang Hao Xuan (Xue Yang) for this episode were “Just smirk. At everyone. Constantly. No, don’t stop.”
Something I noticed, though kept my mouth shut about so as not to give any spoilers: when Meng Yao hears of the threat against Cloud Recesses, he thinks, “Clan Leader Lan,” in what seems a way destined to fan the flames of the (doomed) ship with Lan Xichen. (It isn’t really my ship, but I’ve seen it discussed, and I can see the reasoning behind it.) I had forgotten that little moment.
