JANUARY AUTHOR CHALLENGE: DAY 3 Hey Sailors! Here’s the deal my favorite genre is Fantasy so when a question goes what’s your favorite Fantasy, I don’t have one answer, I have many! So I narrowed it down to age and am actually missing my all time favorite: The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien (my mom read me the LOTR series when I was 8 and so I have a lot of nostalgia for it) but the post is for Tolkien Day and I decided to go with my next three that I read on my own. So according to age: Pre-Teen: The Percy Jackson series- PJO was my favorite and first series I read on my own. I loved HP but PJO has Greek mythology and I was really into mythology. Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Norse it didn’t matter I loved all of it. So when I read the PJO series by Rick Riordan (even though sometimes I’d go that is so not accurate to real mythology 😂) I felt like I belonged in one of those cabins. Particularly Apollo’s cabin 😉 Teen: The Goddess Test Series- Aimee Carted is a genius! I know there’s a theme lol like I said I was really into mythology and this felt a little more grown up than PJO. It also took the Persephone myth and turned it on its head. It’s my favorite adaption and Henry was beautiful. I was so in love 😂 not to mention it put all the gods in teenage bodies and that was just epic. And Aphrodite as the BFF, it was great! Adult: So this actually a series I just started, the firsts book is called The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons and I’ve never read anything as interesting. The book has footnotes with character narration side bars and it’s told through the narration of this boy named Khirin who’s the main character and a demon named Talon, who can change form into I believe people she’s killed, who’s his prison guard which is revealed in the first chapter and he’s waiting to be executed by his brother. I’m only halfway through but this has inspired me as an author and I think Lyons is one of the best writers I’ve ever read. So yeah! Those are my favorite fantasy books! What about you guys?
