🇬🇧 The Tale of Genji is a classic from Japanese literature. It was written in 11th century by the noblewoman and lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu. It is called the world's first novel still to be considered a classic. It tells the story of the son of an ancient Japanese emperor and a low ranking concubine. I cannot wait to read about the palace life in Japan in the 11th century. I’ve read The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon a while ago and it made me realise how fascinating it is to able to read something that was written centuries ago. So this book was among my high priority books and I want to read it before 2019.
