So I’m in the middle of writing some scenes for the eventual (so far untitled) sequel to Over the Sea to the Clouds Above--because I thrive in the chaos of multiple WIPs apparently--and a thought just came to mind regarding Niamh and Leliana’s future together.

Like I realize couples don’t necessarily need to have children to live a happy, fulfilling life. I mean, by the time the events of Trespasser comes to an end, Leliana’s likely already approaching her forties and Niamh will be in her mid-thirties. Their bodies have been through all kinds of trauma by that point--Niamh especially during the Inquisition timeline--so the chances of even keeping a pregnancy likely wouldn’t be very high.

I imagine they likely would be just as happy raising nugs and mabari pups together for the rest of their lives, but I’m also a sappy dumbass, and the concept of “I just want to kiss you for the rest of my life and have all your babies!” just makes me want to melt into a puddle of goo.

As to how that would even happen? There’d probably be magic involved obviously or at least some research into the possibility thanks to Morrigan’s and Dorian’s meddling, who just want their friends to be happy.

To be honest, this idea likely won’t make it into the sequel, but I suppose I can imagine an AU or two where it could work. I do enjoy writing about these two, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility certainly.
