I don't usually talk about hot button topics but this one is pulling on my heart. [*🚨long post alert 🚨*] . Sexual assault and harassment are no joke. Too many people have fallen victim to others preying on them. I know I have at various times throughout my life. . Even in my own place of work I've had to deal with it. A place where I am someone's DOCTOR of PT. Where I am a professional. It has never come from a coworker but from patients... Here are some examples.. . Some responses to "Can you please lie down on the table?" - "I love when young women tell me to lie down" - "Do you want me to take my clothes off first?" - "What are you going to do to me? 😉" . In response to "We're going to try squats today!" - "I don't want to do squats, I'm going to have a big ass like yours... I mean it is a realllyyyyy nice one." . In response to "What are some of your hobbies?" - "Hitting on young girls. 😉" . Or how about that time I was evaluating a patient, I had to leave the room to get something and when I came back he had his hand down his pants... . These are just a few examples that came to mind. It's not every patient, and it doesn't happen everyday but it DOES happen. . The amount of middle aged to elderly men I've had to say "That's inappropriate and you're making me uncomfortable" to is absurd. Almost every single one has told me to relax and tried to play it off as a joke. . Things need to change. People need to continue to speak up. Those saying and doing these things need to be held accountable. . . . *Sidenote: my bosses and my coworkers are VERY supportive if I say I'm uncomfortable treating a patient or if I say a patient should only see male therapists. “My Execution Might Be Televised” Sitting and waiting for my plane last week, this young guy(brown) and his friend(black) were headed home so their mommas can hug them and know they are safe and okay. They are scared for their boys in the present climate. These guys were literally going home just to put their moms’ minds at ease, because not everyone thinks their lives are valuable. When I saw his t-shirt, I told him how it hurts my heart and that I feel their momma’s hearts. I told them I can’t wait til that shirt will no longer be a thing😔 C’mon people, we can do better. I got kicked out of a rock concert this week for being me. I had the audacity to cover my breasts with duct tape on that warm summer night and then complain when I was unfairly and unconstitutionally told to put on my shirt. I'm sorry to say there are mean spirited #boobypolice lurking out there, and sometimes they have the privilege of being in charge. #thingsneedtochange #dontshamemybreasts Turns out Ohio's state law says women may show their chests any place a man can, which is most public places. Many municipalities still include only the female nipple in the city's definition of nudity, even though discriminating against only female nipples is unconstitutional according to the state of Ohio. Isn't it ironic that the #flaminglips could show videos with nipples but my duct taped boobs were #morallyunacceptable . yep. That's what I was called that night. It hurt like hell. I'm doing better today but I'm still mad as hell. An email is in progress. I don't think I'm shameful for wanting the same freedom that my brothers have, to feel the warm sun or cool night air on my bare chest. Seems like a silly thing to deny a human being.

The day after the Florida massacre the kids at my school could not shut up about the fact everything had just been blocked on YouTube. I was so angry I was about to scream at this girl who would not shut up in geometry. I wanted to say;”17 kids our age died and you gonna continuie yelling about how you can’t focus without your music.” It horrifies me that everyone at school was like this.

To make matters worse is the fact that a couple months ago our school almost had a shooting. We were lucky because one of the kids told the school before it happened. It could have been us and I’m grateful it wasn’t. But not once did I hear about the 17 lives lost that day I heard about the music lost.

People need to open their damn eyes. I’m sick of people stressing over the little things that won’t matter in a couple days when there are real problems that no one is trying to fix and will last forever. It just makes me sick.
