Ch. 52: Meanwhile in NYC part 2
Otherwise known as: The Fluff Rush
......
"You did not just dump ricotta cheese into that batter," he sounded so offended, as if someone just insulted Jane Austen to his face. "First cinnamon and nutmeg, now ricotta?" Jason Todd, the Red Hood, scourge of Crime Alley gangs and Russian mobs, stared at Kinley as if she personally took an entire library and burned it to the ground. Obviously her cooking choices were sub par to Jason's own expertise, and he was not above pointing it out. "Are you sure you know how to cook?"
'It's a mismatch made in heaven,' Roy thought gleefully as said woman stared challengingly back at Jason. Without a word, she thumbed open the bottle of lemon juice. Then she stared Jason straight in the eye and tipped it over and into the bowl.
Characters: Jason Todd and his adorable sons Javier Torres and Elijah Redding, Kinley Battaglia, Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth, Tim Drake and Duke Thomas
.....
Javier was a heavy sleeper, but Elijah was not. That still didn't stop Jason from creeping open their bedroom door every night, twice a night. He eases it open once before he goes on patrol, to make sure they're both in bed and asleep like they're supposed to. Then again when he gets back, just to... you know, check on them.
The boys call him paranoid, when he found out the hard way that Elijah wakes up to a creaking door. They call Jason silly and a worry-wart, that they promise to go to bed on time, he doesn't need to check on them before going home for the night.
Once, Elijah joked that Jason's paranoid the Boogeyman is going to come take them away in the night.
Jason doesn't have the heart to tell them that's exactly it.
He wishes he could tell them the truth. Wishes he could sit them down and tell them all about superheros and vigilantes and that sometimes they're just scared dads terrified that their children are going to be targeted.
He's worked so very hard to keep Red Hood away from their lives, a mere blip on the edge of their existence. They know the Hood only in local stories and rumors.
They adore Red Robin, idolize Batman and Robin, and think Batgirl is the most fun. But they'll never know the Red Hood.
He lives in fear of the day someone figures out he loves these kids and decides to take advantage of that fact.
"All safe and sound." Jason turns his head at the sound of Kinley's voice.
She's leaning against the hallway table, wrapped up in a fluffy white blanket and staring at him with a tired look like her eyes. She must've just woken up. Jason wondered if she got up to check on Elijah and Javier as well, or if she heard him sneaking in through the window.
She sure doesn't look all that surprised to see the Red Hood in her house at late-o-clock with his head poked into her kids' room. (But then again, she's always been a little odd like that.)
"Umm," he thinks for a moment, thinking of a good reason why he'd be here and not as Jason," Red Robin sent me to check on you guys. There's a case about... kids going missing, and he asked if I could quick check in on the three of you." It's a plausible excuse. Kinley's only ever met Red Hood a couple of times, but was practically best friends with Tim's alter ego. It wouldn't be that big of a stretch that he'd worried about them.
Whatever Kinley thought of that tale, he didn't really find out. She opened her mouth a couple times to say something but didn't, bit her top lip to stop a smile, before humming," Mmhmm."
Sometimes Jason was a little scared that she knew more than she let on.
.........
Bruce almost tripped over his own feet when he saw the motorcycle parked in the Cave. "Jason's here?" he asked Alfred before he even got his suit off.
Alfred nodded. "I convinced Master Jason to spend the night here so I could monitor his condition until tomorrow."
Bruce's veins ran cold. "He's hurt?" If Alfred noticed (and he always did) that he walked faster than strictly necessary towards the stairs, he didn't say anything in regards to it. "No blood loss tonight, Master Bruce. I'm afraid he had a run in with Ms. Isley tonight."
.......
"They're both idiots," Tim said, glancing in through the crack on the door a few hours later. He held a camera in both hands, the bad angle and tricky lighting no match for his years of experience. Through that 1" opening of the door, he snapped a couple photos.
"Really, Tim?" Duke sighed, watching all this go down and wondering why he was just going along with it," That's kinda creepy taking pictures of your brother when he's unconscious."
"I'm not taking pictures of Jason," Tim argued, then showed Duke the camera screen. Duke looked at what Tim had taken, and almost went 'Aww'.
So it was still technically a picture of Jason, who laid unconscious in bed, sleeping off the poison in his system. But what caught Duke and Tim's attention was Bruce. Bruce, hair all mussed up and Batsuit still on, sat passed out in a chair next to the bed. He looked even more dead to the world than Jason, but his hand was firmly grasped around Jason's fingers.
Tim smiled and held up the camera. "Bruce is gonna be out of there by the time Jason wakes up, and Jason will never believe he checked in on him in the first place," he explained," They're both idiots who can't admit they actually care about each other."
"So you're gathering photographic evidence?" Duke guessed.
Tim nodded. "I'm gathering photographic evidence. And then I'm going to bash them over the head with it."

They’re both relaxed and for the first time in a long time, Aimee can fully relax with someone in bed. They’d been there most of the day and she didn’t really want to leave his arms either. The only times the two newly weds had done so was to go get food, otherwise, they were enjoying their time off on their honeymoon. She smiled softly as she traced patterns on his chest, doing her own form of sketching on a blank canvas while her head rest above his heart. Their legs were tangled with each other and she all but purred as he traced his own pattern on her back. She closed her eyes as she listened to his heart beat.
It was steady and something she could listen to for the rest of her life.
Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.
Listening to it made her thankful that he was still alive through all they’d been through and risking their lives on a day to day basis. She cherished listening to the thing that kept the love of her life alive. Her husband alive. She smiled a little as she pressed a soft kiss to the spot and snuggled back to her spot, smiling a little more when she felt his lips against her hair.
“I love you, Tommy Shepherd. Now and forever.” She softly traced their initials on his chest and added an S to her last one instead of a J. She was a Shepherd now and that made the woman giddy. “Until all the stars fall from the sky, my heart is always going to be yours.”
Prompt: How about Korra and Asami in the snow :) a snowball fight or them just walking along and it begins to snow :)
Aww yiss, Korrasami + snow = happy Kitty! Ty for the prompt :’3
The whole night was utterly perfect.
Asami couldn’t stop herself from smiling and her cheeks were actually starting to hurt. Korra was always a brilliant comedian, more so when she wasn’t actually aware of it. She could be silly, witty, goofy or just plain clumsy and all of those managed to make Asami’s lips curl in a wide smile. Tonight though, she was trying to break her own record of stupid jokes and really bad puns and for some reason, still unknown to her, Asami actually laughed at each and every one of those. It probably had more to do with who said them than what they were actually about.
Outside, snow was falling lightly, the streets were mostly empty and the evening was pleasantly cold.
When they left the restaurant, Korra immediately pulled Asami’s hand into her own, laced their fingers and bumped their shoulders.
“Hey you.” She murmured close to Asami’s cheek and pressed her lips to it, lingering for a few moments before she pulled away. “I love you.”
Asami could almost feel her heart melting at the words she’d heard at least a million times by now, but they’d make her putty in Korra’s arms over and over again, no matter how many times Korra said them.
She leaned over, pressing herself close to Korra, partly because she enjoyed nothing more than being close to Korra and partly because the winter wind finally hit them and it was brushing past them quite roughly. “And I love you, you giant dork.”
“Whaaaat?” Korra whined with a smile.
“You’re just so…”
“So?”
“Wonderf-” Asami started but the last of the letters escaped her when her foot slipped and she lost her footing. Thankfully, Korra was there, ready to catch her, and she did, expertly so. Soon enough Asami found herself staring up into Korra’s amused face.
“Careful there, princess.” Korra grinned widely, pulled her up and untangled herself from Asami’s arms. “Lemme walk on that side, it seems to be really slippery and you don’t have the right boots.”
“Thanks sweetie.” Asami murmured but before she could take Korra’s hand back in her own or say anything else, Korra was falling over beside her and yelping like a stunned penguin.
“Korra!” Asami yelled out, managed to grab one of Korra’s arms but it proved to be both too late and a mistake. Before she could do anything about it or stop herself, Asami was already falling over as well.
Thankfully for the both of them, a giant pile of snow was positioned right behind Korra. It managed to cushion her fall completely and Asami simply flopped onto her.
She tried untangling herself but to no avail. Soon enough though, the sound of Korra’s laughter had her laughing as well and she couldn’t care less that half of Korra’s body was literally stuck in the tiny snow mountain and she herself couldn’t even move her feet.
“How’d this happen?” Korra finally managed to wheeze out through her fits of laughter.
“That’s what you get when you try to be a gentleman.” Asami grinned at her and somehow scooted closer, wrapping her arms around Korra’s neck. “Dorky gentleman.”
“I bet we both looked like those penguins we saw on Youtube. I wonder if we even sounded the same!”
“You certainly did!” Asami said with a wide grin.
“Hey!”
Her grin only widened. Until Korra kissed her. Then her lips were way too busy for her to smile.
For that penguin reference, here’s a penguin, let’s call it Korra, falling :D
❆Baby Please Come Home: Write a drabble about your muse missing mine for whatever reason.
The minute he even left the airport on the plane for the visit back to Italy, Fideo was already missing Rococo, the captain of Little Gigant.
Lately, the two had been hanging out with each other often, with Rococo either coming over to Fideo’s to watch movies and just chat or the two going out to the soccer field to practice. Just being in the company of the older was enough for Fideo.
And so, here he was, at Angelo’s house watching Italian christmas movies which would usually have Fideo watching intently but he was too distracted from thinking about Rococo and missing hanging out with the older.
Angelo, noticing his captain’s odd behavior, tugged at Fideo’s shirt, making Fideo blink and incline his head to look at the blonde, a questioning look on his face.
“C’è qualcosa che non va capitano?" Angelo posed the question, hesitant about it, as not to pry into anything too personal.
Thinking for a moment, Fideo wondered if he could tell Angelo. After a few more silent moments, (with the exceptional background noise of the movie) Fideo nodded his head, a small sigh leaving his lips.
With a slightly strained smile stretching his lips, he wrung his hands together, getting his thoughts together before answering the other, “Credo. Mi manca solo quello che mi piace in questo momento," he started out before pausing for a moment or two then continuing, "Mi chiedo quando posso confessare a lui correttamente. Io voglio, ma, non so come." The words he spoke had gotten softer with each word until it was barely above a whisper that Angelo had to lean in closer to the brunet to hear what he was saying.
Blinking, Angelo leaned back to think, humming thoughtfully before snapping his fingers, a grin appearing on his lips, making Fideo raise an eyebrow questioningly.
“Confessarsi da lui alla vigilia di Natale!" This made Fideo blink in surprise. Confess on Christmas eve? Wasn’t that too risky?
“Credo che …? Beh, ci proverò. Mi manca, però, mi tipo di desiderio è venuto con me in questo viaggio. Potrei gli ho mostrato tutti i posti più belli qui." He said, sighing as he ran a hand through locks of brown hair.
Angelo only grinned, “E ‘naturale per perdere quello che ti piace, o oserei dire, l’amore ~" The blond teased out, causing Fideo to flush red and send a weak glare to the other who was now grinning cheekily.
❆Silver Bells: Write a drabble of our muses having fun in the snow!
Fideo had went over to Rococo’s place, inviting the other out for a fun day in the snow that had gathered at the soccer field they always go to.
Upon arriving, Fideo ran down the hill to get to the field, only to trip and fall the rest of the way, getting snow stuck in his hair and Rococo raced after Fideo (careful not to trip, slip or fall on the way down), a worried expression on his face as he made his way to Fideo’s side, who was unmoving and looked rather lifeless.
Panicking, Rococo reached out hesitantly towards Fideo’s chest, wanting to check to see if there was a heart beat at least before his hand was promptly snatched and he could feel himself being tugged down. Before he knew it, Rococo was on his back with Fideo on top of him, the younger straddling his hips and grinning cheekily.
"Gotcha~" The Italian male crooned out, snickering softly when Rococo glared at him weakly.
"Don’t scare me like that!" He huffed out, gently pushing himself into a sitting position, Fideo still positioned on his lap.
With a roll of his eyes, Rococo playfully pushed Fideo off and into the snow, the Italian male giving a soft yelp at how cold the snow felt on his face.
With a pout, Fideo gathered up some snow and promptly dumped it on Rococo’s head, earning a squeal of surprise and a glare.
Grinning cheekily again, Fideo bolted away, Rococo running after him with a pile of snow in his own hands.
"Get back here Fideo and take it like a man!"
"You’ll never catch me!"
Laughter filled the air as the cat and mouse chase lasted for ten minutes before the two flopped down into the cold snow in exhaustion from running around, both of there noses red from the cold.
Fideo turned to Rococo, smiling. “Let’s go to my house to warm up and watch some Christmas movies!”
