Why does Deathstroke 2014 #12 work when Robin 2021 #1 didn’t?

Simple.

The introduction scene was done in the main character’s voice--Deathstroke’s voice.

Batman and co. did not need to introduce Robin.

Still, neither of them are as good as Superboy #85.

So, I know where I stand on this, but you guys are my first audience and I want to run it by you first.

I’ve brought up an E-rated Hades & Persephone inspired fan fic I’ve been plotting, and a lot of people are interested in the specific kinks and fluff I’m including.

I’ve been thinking about it, and the setting etc is actually so general fantasy in the current form that I can very easily shave off the remaining ties to the original property while keeping everything important (including the main characters, as they required minor personality changes to begin with to justify the beginning of the plot).

So, what do you guys think? Should I leave it as a fan fic, which will increase the initial available audience (i.e. AO3 trawlers), and allow me to skimp on some background details and characters because the reader can fill in from the main property.

Or commit, and do a bit more world building and character work (including designing a physical appearance for the demon!Hades character, since I’d want that to be the most original). This will narrow down my initial audience to you guys and reblogs on Tumblr, but would allow me the opportunity to openly publish down the road and broaden the eventual audience.

I’d also be deleting any posts referring to the original property in connection to this fic, and politely ask others to remove reference to the connection in their own reblogs.

I think pictures/movies aren't able to display every form of emotion. They can only go so far. Because how can something so untouchable like love, being soulmates and understanding each other without words be shown, when it can barely be grasped? Mostly I refrain from reading simply because it always leaves me wandering around with an aching heart - something a movie almost never does. Sometimes writing hits so much deeper than any show could ever go. And while I'm now sitting in my own mess, questioning whether this love i just read about can even exist in my world, I wouldn't want to miss how it makes me feel. All too alive, with a strong sense of what I want for me and that I don't want to settle for less until I found it.

The process of checking the blogs of the intersex people who volunteer to be on that list is an arduous hell scape because it feels like every single person here is a huge fan of parroting and praising Old Irony, and that’s not even true it’s only been 4 people so far vs the 11 that are on the list, but oh my goodness, if I never have to read another Irony post about how ~*~intersex people aren’t really queer because some of us are “””cishet”””~*~ I will die happy.

I am so tired of that little shit deciding what kind of language is and is not appropriate for FA intersex people, and the part where they, a known White, try to shut down other intersex voices by citing Blackout Day is just a spectacle in and of itself.

Fuck you, buddy, I’ll post a goddamn selfie if I goddamn want. I’ll post nine fuckign selfies, watch my ass go.

The point is, if you’re running around saying things like “intersex people can’t reclaim queer unless they are SGA or trans” and “ace people aren’t LGBT and don’t deserve a space in this community” then you are a fuckign exclusionist and you don’t get to be on my list of nonexclusionist blogs.

Like, I know intersex people are starved for goddamn content but that doesn’t mean we should be running around eating toxic goddamn waste.

Anyway, I’m still frothing fucking mad about Irony’s non-FA ass trying to tell forcibly assigned people how we’re “allowed” to relate to our gender, let alone having the AUDACITY to tell intersex peopel that we shouldn’t post selfies because we’re “appropriating blackout” while being a snow white ass little fuck, and I hope, I sincerely and deeply hope, that they are eating cereal one morning and just fucking choke on it.

Just read something by somebody I know and like who referred to SNL's recent search for a Black female cast member as a result of "bullying." He was thoughtful and serious about it. I took a bit to really think about that characterization.

Look....feedback is not bullying.

If you cook and sell soup, and you don't add salt, and your regulars who come back week after week say "Come ON man, how are you not including salt? It's a fundamental building block of flavor. It's really noticeable that you're leaving it out." And then finally, FINALLY, you include salt.....you weren't bullied. You were just real slow to listen and figure out you were leaving out a crucial ingredient.

When you're a national institution that's famous for political cold opens and we spend 6 years with a First Lady who is Black and you don't have a Black lady on staff to play her?

YOU LEFT OUT THE SALT. WHY IS THIS SOUP SO BLAND?! AND NO YOU CAN'T JUST USE SUGAR IN A DRESS.

It's just not bullying....it's valuable feedback that makes your work 1000x better. And frankly, if you really consider yourself a master chef, no one should need to tell you that you should have had salt in your freakin' recipe from the beginning.

Now we just have to figure out which human demographic would be represented by a bread bowl.
