My headcannon is that the boys actually do have some human-like morals even after they are changed, since when you are turned, you do mentally progress and change, but your morals do not.

David's morals is that he will never leave someone he cares about to fend for themselves. He grew up extremely poor in Southern Santa Carla, which was where him and his immigrant family, who were from Ireland, had to do odd jobs, including illegal things so that way they could eat and drink. They were all close-knit/very protective of eachother before they became homeless and split their own ways while living out on the streets, although his father took his little sister, and his mom went onto leaving Santa Carla with his grandmother. The reason why, was because it was actually very dangerous for a family to live on their own, because sometimes, the families would be there asleep on the sidewalk and then 𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘧! Gone. But before his family split up, and before they lost their house, David remembers how they would huddle around their broken down fire pit in their front yard, and how they would be mounted with wool comforters as they all held eachother, sometimes humming old Irish songs to comfort David and his little sister, Amara, when they got distressed from the hunger that was eating away at their insides. He missed his mother and sister sometimes, but he would shove those feelings down, but they never failed to bubble up later in the night.
Dwayne's morals is to never harm a kid. It didn't matter if they were 14 or 15, they are still a little kid in his eyes. When he was growing up, he had 5 younger siblings, two of which were twin girls who were still learning how to walk, along with a pair of abusive parents who would wreak havoc when they had an "episode". It didn't help that his mother was an alcoholic, unfortunately. And to top it off, his father had extreme anger issues that were intensified when someone didn't listen to him, and would get very physical with whoever was in the room with him. So, Dwayne had to step in and swoop his little siblings who was in the room at the time into his arms and he would sprint in the farther end of the house so his baby siblings couldn't hear anything. He misses them so fucking much it hurts sometimes...
Marko's morals was to not put any harm to an animal. When he was growing up, him and his dad had a love/hate relationship type of thing. His dad also had a love for hunting, however, he...was sadistic. Very sadistic. Marko remembers how when he was young, he would watch his father drag the hunt out with a crazed, manic look in his stone cold eyes and would not make it quick and painless, like how his father's God had ordered him to. Marko remembers running home into the comfort of his mother's arms and crying into her skirt because of what he had seen his father do. But, now that he is a vampire, and now that Marko has some definite trauma from witnessing his dad torture animals, he holds such a soft spot for little creatures. He is so 𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 with animals, it almost makes you wanna cry.
Paul's morals was to just focus on the positive and to not think of bad things. Paul was aware that his moral sounded half-assed and ridiculous, but he had a mental disorder, ADHD. When he had a depressive episode, albeit small, it could feel like it was droning on for ages, and he would be so miserable and just focus on nothing but the negative, which would feed that depression that he was scared of letting take over. Why was he scared? Because he had seen hell. Literal hell. His older brother had gone to hell, and didn't come back alive. No, instead he let it consume him, and he would let it out into doing opium and cocaine on the daily, letting out howls that would transition into sobs. Paul would just lay there awake at night and listen as his brother slowly killed himself each night. Paul was at a loss, he couldn't help his brother, or not anymore atleast. Paul had actually experienced it temporarily first-hand, but he had seen others experience it for 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴, his older brother, Jacob, being a prime example. He never wanted anyone to go through that sort of misery, no matter how shitty of a person you were.
