a list of cool websites i’ve come across because of tumblr:

queering the map, an interactive map of the world that allows members of the lgbtqia+ community to find locations significant to their queer experience and write them down for others to see. you can look through this for hours.

tree.fm, a site where you can listen to recordings of forests all around the world. each sound recording is accompanied by a beautiful picture.

this is sand, a visually satisfying virtual sandbox that lets you create art and showcase it to others. you can also see other people’s creations!

a soft murmur, a website that allows you to mix together your own ambient sounds to create your own background noises.

futureme, a site where you can write a letter to your future self and schedule to have it emailed to you after a certain amount of time.

you’re getting old, a site that calculates exactly how old you are according to your birthday and puts it into perspective.

The bottom layer his mysterious abandonment, the firey pyramid showing the peak of his youthful fury, the "camo" layer extinguishes the flame of his youth only to itself be largely scarred over with time, from which grows the 3 most truly Floyd colors

Near him is everything that is right in his world, his beloved found family, though forever looming nearby is the paranoia that he cannot fully rid himself of.

The paranoia hills are definitely not a result of ThisIsSand deciding that I should stop having any control of the sand anymore

So I just ran into this really cool random site, where you can make stuff like this:

It’s basically digital sand pouring, where you can choose one color or a range of colors which then flow from your mouse when you click it.

I, being the artist I am, immediately thought of how useful it might be to create rough mountainous backgrounds with, to use either as a blurred-out background or be painted over to create a better quality piece.

Anyway, thought I’d share.
