i appreciate this blog sm because it seems like once you turn 18 (especially when you reach your early 20s) that no one cares about you or what you go through. everything is about children and elderly (though rightfully so and as it should because they're vulnerable by default) but they often forget that young adults are also vulnerable as well especially within marginalized groups. im sick of being told "well you're an adult now so you have to figure out" when no one taught me how to figure it out before adulthood. death to all forms of ageism.
this is a result of youngism.
I remember one thing when I turned 18 was my mother magically expecting me to know things. When I told her I was never taught, she asked what she had even sent me to school for (the thing was NOT a school related thing. It was something that's taught as part of parenting).
All age groups are vulnerable in their own right & all of us deserve to ask for help without worrying about being met with "you should know this by now", or "you're just too young, then".
A lot of ageism unfortunately also heavily overlaps with ableism, but that's a topic for another day.
