6: “Roll your eyes one more time, I dare you.”
8:“What the hell was that?”
31: “This is another one of your sick jokes, isn’t it?”
32: “I suggest you wipe that smirk off your face before I slap you.”
There was a rose with legs, following Hermione down the hall. Well, it wasn’t a proper rose with legs, though it did appear to be a rather realistic one made of paper. She stopped, staring down the empty hallway, with a frown on her face. Prefect rounds were usually pretty uneventful, maybe she’d catch someone snogging, but this was new.
A soft fluttering whizzed by her ear, causing Hermione to draw her wand. “What the hell was that?”
A paper swan fluttered in front of her before flying right into her forehead. Hermione scrunched up her nose, before snatching the thing out of the air. A bit of writing peaked out from a corner, and as she unfolded the fluttering bird she was greeted with what seemed to be an entry from a journal.
October 14th,
Hermione’s starting to get really distracting. I’m not sure what it is, but it’s harder to focus on products now, and I would up giving a kid two of the effect sides of a nosebleed nougat instead of an effect and cure.
That was not a fun talking to.
Also she changed her perfume.
I fucking hate that I noticed this.
Hermione looked up to see one of the twins at the end of the hallway. She took an educated guess, “Fred what is this?” She felt a twinge of anger. Hermione didn’t like having to punish the twins. Especially Fred. She’d managed to develop a bit of a crush on him over the years, much to her dismay, and now that she was a Prefect she’d found herself butting heads with him more and more often. Things like this only made it worse.
The pretty little smirk on his face was not helping at the moment.
“I suggest you wipe that smirk off your face before I slap you.”
“Haven’t you ever had someone ask you out before?”
More roses and birds surrounded her, and the fifth year felt her blood pressure rise. “This is another one of your sick jokes, isn’t it?”
With that, Fred’s smile faded, “Do you really think I’m enough of a prat to do all this just to mess with your feelings?” there was a bit of hurt on his face as he walked close to her. “Read more of them, c’mon.”
Hermione rolled her eyes once more before bending down and picking up a rose.
February 14th
I wanted to ask Hermione out to Hogsmeade for today. But I got too nervous.
Like what the hell? I’m Fred. I don’t get nervous.
George won’t shut up about it.
He said to just swoop in and hang out with her, but I don’t want to creep her out.
Fuck she saw me looking at her.
FUCK.
“I really like you Hermione.” Fred scowled at the look of disbelief on her face, and as she rolled her eyes once more he felt himself snap just the tiniest bit. “Roll your eyes one more time, I dare you.”
“Excuse me?”
Fred wasn’t sure if he was more scared or into her at the moment.
Both? Both.
“Would you please, just take me at my word for once? I’ve known you for five years. Okay? Five years. I know I do a lot of pranks, but I’d hate to think that you consider me mean enough that you wouldn’t trust me about this.”
Hermione faltered, as she looked around at all the journal pages that now surrounded her. At least three dozen pages were scattered now in the hall. She took a leap, and stared up at the gorgeous boy in front of her. “I like you too, you know.”
His face lit up, and for a moment, Fred bounced up and down on the balls of his feet. “Are you serious?”
Her laugh fluttered down the hallway, and Fred began to beam. “Yes Fred, I’m very serious.” She smiled as he bent down to press a rather sweet kiss to her lips.
She’d imagined that Fred would be the sort to pin someone against the wall and snog them, but this sweet side of him was a pleasant surprise. Fred pressed his forehead against hers and stared into the beautiful eyes in front of him. He waggled his eyebrows playfully, “So what do we do now?”
“Well, I collect all these pages…”
“Yeah?”
“And then you go back to the common room…”
Fred rolled his eyes and straightened up his posture, “Are you serious Granger?”
“I’m almost done with rounds! I’ll meet up with you in an hour. We can spend some time together then.”
“When was the last time I told you that you’re no fun?”
“Yesterday.” she gave him a swift peck on the cheek before waving her wand to gather all of the pages. “Now go back to the common room before you get caught walking around after hours.”
Fred stared down at her in amusement before finally nodding his head. “Alright. But no studying while we’re together. This won’t be a study date.”
“Fine.” she watched as he began to walk away, “Oh and Fred?”
“Yeah?”
“I bought that perfume because I thought that you’d like it.”
