(Day 6) #Throwback to the #Spiti trip #thisdaylastyear After a few long and tiring days, the 6th day was a much needed breather with a small journey from #Tabo to #Kaza , with an extended pit stop at the beautiful village of #Dhankar . Posting this picture, I can totally remember taking a wrong turn while trekking to the Dhankar lake, and reaching a rugged mountain top after a 3 hour climb only to find the lake had dried up. After coming down, the driver was told us that he was concerned about us as we were gone way longer than it should have taken, and only then did we figure that we had taken a wrong turn. (Day 3) Throwback to the #Spiti trip in 2019 #thisdaylastyear I was woken up by the hustle and bustle of the passengers and the bus conductor at Rampur bus station at 6 am, after having slept for maybe half an hour that night. We boarded an ordinary #HRTC bus from Shimla around 2 am to Reckong Peo. It was a rainy evening and the amount of rain inside and outside the bus was almost the same, you can imagine what a wonderful experience that was. The bus ride that was supposed to start at 11.30 pm, did not start until 2 am. We could do nothing but wait at the bus stand in Shimla, with the hope that the bus had started from Chandigarh in the evening. We changed buses at Rampur for Reckong, and it being the flooding season in Himachal, it didn't take long for our bus to get stuck. We were given a choice to either go back to Rampur and spend a day there, or get down in the middle of nowhere and figure our way forward. The daredevil in us refused to go back, and luckily we convinced a local store person to drive us to Reckong. Barely we'd started, and we were stuck by a stream which had washed down the road into the valley. After waiting there for c. 3 hours, we finally made it to Reckong at 5.30 in the evening. This was one of the most treacherous journeys I've been on, not hoping to get on it again. We stayed at Hotel Alpine Nest in Kalpa, and the host was nice enough to understand instantly that we have just overcome a difficult journey and got us snacks and tea to freshen up with. No matter how good or bad the journey was, what's the point if everything is smooth sailing? The view in and around Kalpa and the generosity of the simple folks is definitely calling me back already. "When people call me a celebrity I cringe , because to me I am just another working mother " Ambika Pillai Last year I had the Good fortune of meeting and spending some time with Ambika Pillai , well she needs no introduction....an ace hair dresser at the time when women hair dressers were unheard of.....she built her salons...with her signature style ... I remember visiting her salon at Panchsheel park and as a young lady all of 27 feeling over awed as I had just shifted to Delhi from a smaller and cozier town of Aurangabad ( Maharashtra) . When I heard her speak about how she has handled her single mom status from the age of 22, bringing up her daughter singkehandedly , dyslexia and as she was weak in numbers and never understood how to deal with finances , and people , how once her fingers just gave way and she couldn't hold scissors to do the one thing that she loved doing and was her bread and butter....I just stayed glued to my seat and marvelled at this gutsy lady.... My learning 💗 No matter what life throws at you follow your passion 💗 Maximise your attributes , your talents , hone your skills 💗There will be shortcomings that you cant surmount, take help , but dont get bogged down by them. 💗There is always always always ....a way out , you are programmed for success...just look and you will find. 💗A good heart and a good intent is what you need to build relationships and that's what sustains you .
