((I just imagined a bunch of old Telvanni grandmas being all like “You’re only 358? SUCH A PRECIOUS BABY! *pinches cheeks* Except that old Telvanni grandmas are probably counted as a force of nature. A terrifying, terrifying force of nature))
Mistress Vendu won't stop pinching his cheeks. It's really quite painful because she insists on doing so with the claws at the end of her foremost chaurus legs rather than her Dunmeri hands. Neht whines and tries to pull away, but her hold on him is strong. Neht liked her so much better when she was just a spellmaker in Tel Mora, long before she started grafting rare animals onto her lower body.
"Oh, what a sweet little face he has! Look at those soft ridges. Why, he barely has any grey in his hair, the poor little man!"
"This is painful," mumbles Neht.
"Maybe he dyes. With lemons. Lemons for yellow hair," says Mistress Lilatha, humming softly. Lilatha always hums softly, mostly because she lets a colony of eusocial insects nest in her chest in exchange for their honey. Telvanni lichs are always a bit batty. You wouldn't see Mannimarco do this.
"Oh, I don't think so. I think this is natural or else he wouldn't keep it blonde. Do you still grow your plants, hm?"
"I am the leading expert in my field," mumbles Neht. "You're hurting me. I'm a mage-lord. This is embarrassing. I'm a grown adult. It hurts."
Vendu finally releases her grasp and Neht rubs his cheeks, red from being so cruelly pinched by ancient wizards.
"Of course you are, dear. No one doubts your skills at hedgemagery. Oh, you mustn't pout. Look how he pouts, Lilatha! Reminds me of my little descendants, bless his heart."
"You're young," adds Lilatha. "Not many high Telvanni so young. It's cute to us."
"I'm not young. Look, I do have wrinkles! I'm old enough to have great-great-grandchildren! I have hot flashes all the time! I'm not cute. I'm not. I'm not young."
"Oh, let old mages have their fun, little man."
The mages laugh. Neht is turning red. He's not young, damn it!
