Hey Owlet, I'm having a bad cold and was wondering how much hydration is actually required to help the body heal? Should I be chugging water/tea non-stop, or just drink when I'm thirsty?
You should drink when youâre thirsty/feel like it, but chances are that youâre doing to drink more than normal ways.
For one, itâs because if youâre running a slight fever and sweating your body will want to compensate that. Itâs also likely that if your nose is clogged and youâre breathing through your mouth, the mucous membranes there will dry out more, too also making you require more water.
And of course it can also help with the other symptoms, either by simpel temperature differences (say, something hot and steaming that can help unclog your nose) or because it contains things like mucilages that actually can help soothe the soreness of your mucous membranes.
So why you donât technically need to drink that much more, chances are that other factors will make you drink more automatically. Regardless, listen to your body and drink when you feel you need it.Â
