The idea that GhatGPT, which is basically a calculator but for words, will somehow become self-aware, is so bizarre to me. Like yes, I get it, the output feels more human now, so it's easy to fall into the illusion that it's close to BECOMING human, but it's not. Saying a chatbot will gain sentience if it just get advanced enough is like saying if I make a puppet that moves realistically enough, it will turn into Pinocchio and be a real boy. Or that once video game graphics get to a certain threshold, Mario will feel pain. It is a mechanistic imitation. It's not alive.
