What is Gaston about and how is it sax rohmering

Gaston the Disney villain has a comic series by pak and van lente the writing duo of all time. and Gaston max is a literary character written by sax rohmer for his Gaston max series (which include yellow claw and the golden scorpion which are two of the most impactful yellow peril novels outside of sax rohmers fu manchu series) and I keep saying im gastonmaxxing when I get Gaston which is only funny to me because I've read a couple Gaston max books

Not pigeon related, but bird and comics related: what type of owls do you think Hooty and Charlie are?

so i put out the call for asks while i was at work so i had something to look forward to when i got home so i basically just rotated charlie and hooty around in my head for a while as one of my least favorite customers tried to make my life unbearable. thank you. anyway the answer:

comics hooty is very much just drawn as "whatever the artist thinks an owl looks like from a half-remembered source." while he's described as a "wood owl" by charles, that is not a species but a genus (strix) and although it would make hooty most likely a barred owl he is never drawn as a barred owl. he is pretty much invariably given plumicorns, making him a great horned owl instead, and when he's drawn in detail it's undeniable that the artist was emulating a bubo, sometimes a great horned owl (left) but occasionally a eurasian eagle-owl (right).

although most of the time they do just say fuck it and draw whatever the hell (barn owl (left), great grey owl (right), i swear i've seen snowy owl too):

PERSONALLY i like the idea of hooty being a barred owl...

because it has some extra flavoring and helps differentiate him from charlie who is undoubtedly a great horned owl when drawn competently:

however the reason i specified i was talking about comics hooty above is because tv hooty is a different story. that hooty inexplicably changes species between barred owl and eurasian eagle-owl.

not even the same genus. what are we doing. like they don't say "oh this is a new hooty" they act like it's the same bird. no it isn't!

You can take any comics book character to your fav breakfast place, BUT they will be running late and have asked you to order for them. Who are you taking and what are you ordering them?

I'm honestly not sure that I have a favorite breakfast place, there is this cafe that I go to sometimes with my mom I think I'd take Hope there and get her this bacon jalapeño scone they sometimes have.

Hope growing up in a future where food is kind of a fucked situation makes me want to introduce her to so many foods, purely based on vibes I'm assigning her a Texan style cuisine as her favorite. Jalapeños and bacon and biscuits and gravy and hot sauce on scrambled eggs and shit. She'd like Texmex too, even though it's my least favorite mexican cuisine (I prefer sonoran, the californian in me.) I just think she'd want food that's heavy and flavorful.
