Em sighed as she snuggled against Wade. It had been months since they had physically seen, let alone shared a bed. She had missed him more than she could say and she focused on that and not all that had occurred with Crispin and how she had ended up staying with Wyatt. Thinking his name made her glance at the sleeping man next to her, what was going on between these two men she cared for? Part of her was tempted to wake him and ask but he was obviously exhausted. Not that she wasn’t, sighing again she closed her eyes and let sleep take over. Unfortunately it was short lived. Maybe it was the worry or stress but something triggered her memories and soon she was falling into nightmares, sadly based in reality.
In her dream it was dark and no matter what she did she could not find light. All she heard was laughter, men speaking vile things and soon she realized those vile things were about her. She felt cold, wrapping her arms around herself she realized she was naked. Em was so lost in this dream she didn’t realize she had started twisting in the bed. Soon the dream was flooded with light but all she saw was hands and then they were grabbing and pulling at her. It stung, pierced, and took her breath. With a scream dying on her lips she shot up in bed. Cold sweat covered her skin and she put a hand over her mouth to keep from screaming. Glancing over in the dark she thought Wade was still asleep. Relieved she slowly slid out of bed and went to the window, cracking it slightly to light a cigarette.
Wiping damp hair off her face she let the breeze soothe her. Her skin felt warm and yet covered in goosebumps. Closing her eyes she immediately opened them as she feared she’d be pulled back into the dream. Em had purposely left out the assault, as Crispin told her too. He had threaded Wade’s life and now she could endanger Wyatt too. No it was a secret she had to keep. Jumping when she heard a noise she turned to see she had in fact woke Wade up.
Inhaling on her smoke she sighed, “Just a bad dream. Go back to sleep, I’m fine.” She said softly, even though she wasn’t. Queen of deflection she turned, “Unless you want to tell me about you and Wyatt.”
