"Both of them are too late. Curufin stirs, pushing himself up, and Sauron’s mace collides with the side of his head.

Curufin drops to the ground. This time, he doesn't get up.

" No! "

Maedhros' heartbeat thunders in his ears at the scream. "Tyelpë," he rasps. He tries to push himself up again. "Tyelpë, get back."

Celebrimbor appears out of the melee and falls to his knees beside his father's unconscious body, draping himself over him. "Don't you dare ," he hisses up at Sauron. "You can't have him!"

Sauron pauses. "How sweet," he murmurs, tilting his head to one side. Fresh blood spills out down his side at the movement. "I think I'll remember you."

The Curufin Draw ! Finally !! (who has since turned into a Celebrimbor & Maedhros & Sauron draw but anyway that's not my point)

One blasted year since I said I was going to make it and it is here !

Okay so in my defense your honor this draw has really been messing with me, like I had to start it from scratch twice. It just kept being mean.

And a hearty thanks to @shuuji-nemo too who helped me to understand on which side of his face Curufin has been slapped by sauron's mace :)

He doesn’t know how long he is sitting there for, but after a long silence where he can only hear the sound of the wind roaring up from the precipice and his own heartbeat in his ears, there are footsteps again. Slower, this time, approaching steadily until someone crouches down in front of him and Maeglin looks up to see bright red hair and a pale face documented with scars.

“Maeglin,” Maedhros says softly. He crouches in front of him, balancing with his fingertips pressed against the stone. “Maeglin, you’re safe here. I won’t let any harm ever come to you.”

Staring at Maedhros, the General of the Galad Lain, the one who brought them all through to this and who has done so many things along the way, who loves Fingon so fiercely, Maeglin believes him.

"I think you could find a way to pluck stars from the night sky if you believed it to be just. Fingon is smiling, Maedhros knows it. He could draw his smile from memory alone, if asked. I love you. I know that you can do this."

Another draw for @theheirofashandfire, on this chapter of Loose thread because I'm rereading all the aurë entuluva series lately : the first meeting between Saelwen and Maedhros.

I really love this character, she's so interesting !! And so cool !! And also you always need a competent woman when you least expect it.

The fact that she knows him since post-thangorodrim and is thus Not Impressed makes their dynamic really interesting like yes, this is my lord. Yes he is very scary-clever smt and also a fool in love and also I was guarding his sickroom before we properly met and damn does he has the will to live

I didn't particularly knew what she looked like. She is said to have dark hair repeatedly over the series, but all the rest is pure vibe on my part. I hope I did her justice !

A quick doodle for @theheirofashandfire, from chapter nine of A thread Unraveled (bc I keep re-reading the Aurë Entuluva series and having random ideas of doodles & draws)

“How’s Fingon?” Saelwen says slyly when he finds her.

Maedhros gives her a flat look. “Every cycle you take an unusual amount of glee in knowing that we married,” he says. “It is disconcerting.”

“I am your loyal subject,” Saelwen protests with a very put-upon gasp. “I just want what is best for my lord. His wellbeing and safety are my utmost concern.”

The night has come on fast, though there are enough torches lit across the camp that it barely matters. Maedhros walks a little ways away, into the darkness. “Look,” he says to the baby, looking up at the sky. “Look, the stars are just coming out.”

The baby tilts his head back, staring up with wide eyes even though he can’t possibly make out the stars so high up above them.

Maedhros and soon-to-be Gil-Galad for @theheirofashandfire from Chapter 7 of Scion of Kings because they're such cuties both of them
