closed starter for @mcskerad, set after the Kirkwall Rebellion but before the events of Asunder
Etienne’s father was always one for fineries. Showing off his wealth and connections was a part of the Game, after all. And having a talented mage child for his eldest son was another crown. Or it had been once. Since the events in Kirkwall, Etienne had felt the stares and heard the whispers at every event his father had requested his presence.
Of course, it was always behind his back. To his face, it was smiles and flirtations, interest in the handsome and charming mage and a keen interest in getting closer to his father’s favor and perhaps his younger siblings.
And Etienne used that to his advantage in the Game, gaining more connections throughout Orlais and allies. For what, he had no plans as of yet. But if there was one thing he knew about Orlais, it’s that connections were everything. Especially if one had something to hold over another’s head.
The tensions, though, didn’t keep him from enjoying the party. Lights glimmered off his golden mask, the forehead of it adorned with a sun with sunbeams which looked more like petals. The blooming sun, a symbol associated with the de Rousseau family. Dark brown curls were slicked back, held in place by the half face mask, and a charming smile rested on his lips.
Grey eyes examined the crowd, knowing very well his father was about to have the orchestra play his favorite dance. That required a partner. His gaze fell upon a young woman, who he’d heard quite a bit about but only met in passing. She’d taken her family up from the depths of despair to prosperity in a few short years.
Someone to keep an eye on.
“My Lady Belmonte,” he greeted with a slight bow, “may I request this dance?”
