"you know damn well we close in -- oh." maude lost her sentence when she turned to find an unfamiliar face staring back at her. she blinked once, unable to comprehend a stranger in her small town, especially without weeks of chatter leading up to their arrival. "can i help you?"
@lcvergrl // Mad Maude was on her usual huff and puff tour de Stardew, and her scowl only deepened when she saw she was about to cross paths with Jai. She was still upset with him for his snide remarks about the general store. She hoped she could slip by him with incident, but of course their umbrellas collided, and the jostle forced Maude to drop her library book in the mud. "Can you watch where you're going?" she barked over the rolling thunder as she dove to save the book.
@ohvalleys ( from here ) // "Cordelia, just stop it, if you're going to keep bringing that up, then I don't know what to tell you anymore. That was when we were kids, and it's not the same thing," Maude felt herself growing frustrated again. She laid it out as simply as she could, one last time before she ran out of patience. "You know, I don't even care that you danced with someone else? I care that you didn't tell me, and I care that you won't even say sorry." Even though Maude hadn't exactly apologized for her wrongs yet either...
@ohvalleys || Though she'd lived her entire life in Stardew Valley, Maude was not one for the mines. What she lacked in emotional regulation, she made up for in common sense and will to live. However, her mom insisted she participate in this new event, and that the mayor had put safeguards in place, and plenty of people knew what they were doing, so here she was with her partner stomping down to a new level of the mines. When she arrived, she only stood there with her arms crossed and stared straight ahead. "I don't see a clue."
Was it just Maude, or was the recent influx of festivals a bit excessive? One or two a season she could tolerate, but now her mom was dragging her out of hibernation every other week. And this one was on Cordelia's domain no less? She slouched over her kebabs at the picnic table, trying her best to ignore everyone.
@chardonnavs // "Oh. Corina. What are you doing here?" Maude "greeted" her sullenly. Of all the people to interrupt her in the secret woods, Corina probably wasn't the worst choice, but unfortunately Maude wasn't one for reason or any company at the moment.
( @dewcarlota ) With a couple dull thuds, Maude proved that even a knock could sound sullen. Then she stood hunched on the porch with her mom's casserole in her oven-mitted hands and waited for her downfall (Carlota answering the door). She pointedly kept her gaze on a chip in the door's paint and not on the gorgeous spring sea that bloomed around them, lest the big green monster inside her grow so large it leapt out her mouth and gobbled Carlotta up when she answered.
( @dewyjuli ) Great. After burning her toast and stubbing her toe on the way to work, Maude didn't want to see or talk to a single person, but especially not Juliana. She made no effort to hide her grumbly hurrumph when she walked into the store and saw her parents' new little angel behind the counter, nor did she bother saying hello. If she was going to bear this shift, then she would need a minute to herself before the inevitable bullshit started.
