synopsis with @goodbyejoon 2019, late february
it was genuenly supposed to be their usual get together, they were still in school and it wasn't out of the ordindary to spend the majority of their time around one another, the usual. it's a normal day, its supposed to be like any other day, it really didn't feel like it would be any different. hence why they were hiding away in the music room like usual, eunwoo's violin placed half hazzardly on the desk and joon is in his usual seat at the piano. absolutely nothing out of the ordinary was expected, except the notifications about university acceptance starting coming through. she heard people screaming and crying, chatter was filling the school.
so she goes to look, to see what her email says.
eunwoo has been looking at her email for a few minutes now, at least she thinks its been a few minutes, but she can joon burning holes at the side of her head, so it must be longer than that by now. she can't really look up from the screen.
we are unable to offer you a place on this course through the scholarship program.
what a joke, she thinks and finally locks the phone, notices her hands shake but does her best to ignore it. she all but throws the phone on the table, maybe the shakes will go away, but she can't ignore the feeling of being unable to look at joon. so she avoids looking in his general direction, only seeing him from the corner of her eye as she turns to pick up the violin, to keep herself distracted for a little while but she can't even bring herself to grab the instrument.

all those years of hard work, of sleepless nights, to keep on top of her current scholarship, to her grades, to be constantly in joon's shadow, a step behind, an arms length away. now, the gap has suddenly become so large, it was taking ever ounce of self restrain for eunwoo to not have a breakdown.
her lips purse and she finally looks over at joon, hands dropping to her lap in fists. "so?" she asks, voice uncharacteristically stretched thin for her, dreading the answer as she feels the tears already building up, teeth sinking into her bottom lip. she feels her throat burn a bit, enough for the lump in it to grow almost unbearably big, because she knows the answer he was going to give her and the wave of humiliation and emberrassment that would follow.
