Wanting to throw on the wheel but having an eczema flare up >:[
I took a 1 hour porcelain throwing class and pretended to be a beginner who’d “taken a few classes before.” Which wasn’t a complete lie. I’ve thrown porcelain 2 other times ever.
It completely changed my throwing game and gave me half a dozen new techniques.
Got to the end of the class and the master potter said “yeah. You’re not a beginner”
please share your thoughts! i am really not that excited at the idea of four months on the wheel with a clay that hurt to use after 5 minutes. yeah, sure, i might get used to it after a while but also i don’t really want to get sailors hands.
i just find it a really odd choice of clay for beginners. 🧐
I took a pottery workshop! It’s something my Dad and I had talked about before he passed and I was determined to go through with it despite everything else going on. I really, really, REALLY liked it. In fact, I’m signing up for a full course in the fall and then joining the burlington art gallery’s studio membership where I can work on pieces without having to spend about a million dollars on equipment.
I’m really excited about this and I’m so glad I went for it. The only thing is that my Dad never got to see it.
