oc drabble: Please take a moment to ponder Yaz and Thueban with a sibling rivalry:
“Oh yeah, well can you do THIS?” *Thueban dances.*
“pft. Can you do THIS.” *Yaz lifts the leggy straight up in the air*
“Jerk. Try THIS-” *Thueban sticks his tongue up his nose, one fork in each nostril.*
“OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH HE’S PULLING OUT THE BIG GUNS.” *Yaz looses his mind*
*Insert cool witty thing to say to show off my dragon-guy inspired by a Black Mamba*
Yaz: So like, what's so special about being half snake?
Thueban: Lots of things! Aside from being able to unhinge my jaw, the ladies seem to love a little thing called 'asphyxiation' -
Yaz: What's tha-
Elan: *picks up Yaz* That is it we are done we are leaving say good bye do not talk to me or my brother every again fare well
oc drabble: MMMMMMMM I WAS JUST THINKING OF BBY THUEBAN TRYING TO MOVE WITH HIS NEW TAIL
He starts crawling, he’s used to that, but then he tries getting his tail involved, and he has no coordination and it all piles up on himself and he kinda ‘crashes’ and nosedives into the ground. He keeps breaking down into tears many times, and crushes Shajar to see him like that, especially when both their first impressions were ones of absolute horror, and you can bet your Sunday bonnet Thueban was terrified of Shajar and avoided them for a lONG while.
Eventually, Shajar comes to him one day, and shapeshifts their legs into a trunk-like imitation of the snake tail that Thueban has to deal with.
It’s really funny, because Shajar starts out thinking they know how to move with a snake tail, and that they’ll be able to show Thueban how to do it, but nOOOOHOHOHOHOOOO.
They’re able to bond over their failures, comical or otherwise, and Shajar is better able to sympathize with Thueban, and he also knows this, and they’re finally able to be friends, or a child/parent sorta thing.
oc drabble: tbh, it’s really hard to tell who was more scared when Shajar made Thueban and they both realized what had just happened, and that Thueban still remembered his life as a human.
Thueban was really freaking out because suddenly his paralyzed legs are now SNAKE, and Shajar is equally horrified, namely because Thueban’s reaction was mainly to scream, and they didn’t know what else to do other than scream as well. Thueban believes Shajar’s basically mutilated him, and Shajar kinda accepts that as the truth, and there’s a lot of screaming and crying and apologies, and absolute, manic, hysteria until Shajar puts Thueban to sleep and shows up at Vivir’s doorstep one dark and stormy night with tiny snoodle boy in their arms and acting like they’ve murdered someone by accident.
Vivir calms them down, they all get Thueban woken up, and tbh, the boy just latches on to Riotza. She’s got dark skin, long black hair, and facial scars. The basic checklist for Thueban’s recently deceased sister. Eventually, everyone gets calmed down, Thueban’s situation is explained to him, and unlike many of Shajar’s children, he’s actually given the choice if he wants to take on those duties or not. It’s not like he has much of an option, but it’s the only time an option is actually given.
This has literally no bearing on any sort of plot. I just wanted to write something: Feat Thueban and Elan.
~~~
“No… no, no, absolutely not.”
“Thueban, please. You’re the only one who knows how to access that part of our lives. You’re the only one who knows your human past, and right now, we need-“
“NO.” Normally so composed, so poised, and strategic. Thueban’s calculated exterior was cracking before Elan’s eyes. Fractures showing themselves in the form of wide eyes, a quick breath, a shift in his brows, a firm set in his jawline that belied more than just a resolve.
Elan was still persisting, however, “Please. We need to know-“
“NO!”
Thinking back, Elan had never heard Thueban scream. He had never heard the ear-piercing shriek that rattled in Thueban’s mouth. For once, one raw, startling moment, his façade completely shattered, and he clutched his arms around his naked, scaled chest, and curled in on himself as much as he could. Lacking knees to pull up to his chin, he curled his tail up under him, shrinking, and shaking like it was winter.
There was so much going on that Elan was at a loss for how to react, or what to do. He started becoming aware of how utterly tiny his brother was, and how utterly large he was in comparison, even though he was sitting down and hunched.
He was sent to Thueban’s den on a mission, however, and tried one last time, from a different angle.
“Thueban… brother… please.”
The tiny snake curled in front of him shivered, his long locks falling in front of his face and shielding the tears that were heard through his voice, “Elan, please- I can’t… I can’t. Please don’t make me…”
Elan tried to keep his speech gentle, “You can’t what?”
“I can’t go back… I don’t want to remember… I don’t want to go back to that.”
“Go back to what?” Elan asked. He leaned forward with the question and flinched back at the answer.
“I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT, OKAY?” Thueban screamed again at the ground in front of him. Elan could see his fingernails starting do dig into his shoulders, trying to relieve the intense frustration, somehow, “I DON’T WANT TO TALK ANYMORE. I DON’T WANT TO GO BACK, I CAN’T I CAN’T I CAN’T-“ Thueban checked himself, and tried to regain some semblance of sanity, only resulting in him shoving the blame onto Elan. He looked up at his brother and leaned his back into the new barrage of wails, “GET. OUT. GET YOUR FAT ASS OUT OF MY HOUSE. DON’T TALK TO ME. DON’T LOOK AT ME. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT.”
It had been a frightening enough encounter for Elan, and he quickly began to turn for the exit, trying to leave as quietly as possible.
oc drabble: Thueban is the only one who knows how to remember his past life. (Batu has some small inclination of what their life was like, but only barely) Thueban fully remembers his life, and his childhood, and really wishes he didn’t. He had an abusive father and older brother, and a beautiful older sister (his wig is styled specifically like her’s, just because it reminds him of her, and sometimes he needs that) His father sold him, and he ends up legless, beaten and used in every way possible, and dumped in some corner of the forest, left for dead. He didn’t expect to wake up, but when he did, Shajar was holding him, and walking deeper into the forest.
Because of his own past, he kept the secret from everyone else, so that none of them can remember their own pasts.
