E is for exercise
Keep fit. Be healthy. Exercise. That is an important rule on the island, you can’t perform a rescue with no energy, which means workout whenever possible and get lots of sleep. Jeff drilled this into the team as soon as the business started turning his lanky sons into muscle without hurting them and accessing them on agility courses. Unlike the boys, Kayo took a gentler approach, while the boys were in the gym lifting weights she would take herself on hikes and agility training on the obstacle course. The suits Brains designed for the team showed off every curve and muscle they all looked on perfectly for keeping in shape, despite the means they ate and general snacking during the day.
Example
Kayo walked past each of her brothers’ bedroom doors saving Scott’s for last and banged on each one.
“Come on sleepy head,” she poked her head around the door smiling at the mop of hair poking out from under the sheets.
“Ugh Kayo, why do you do this?” Scott moaned as she shut the door behind her.
“Because exercise is good for you,” she jumped onto the bed and kissed his forehead.
“You’re the worst kind of girlfriend.”
“You know you love me,” Kayo smirked as he sat up.
“Yeah, but I sometimes wonder if that was the right choice,” he smiled back at her before chucking a pillow into her arms.
“Lounge in ten minutes, I need to drag Alan out of bed.”
“FAB,” Scott pushed the sheets off himself and ran a hand through his hair, “I’ll see you down there.”
“No problem, but hurry up,” Kayo walked out and straight into Virgil, “at least one of you is ready?”
“I know what banging on the door at eight in the morning means,” Virgil smirked as he tied up his laces on his laces, “hiking.”
“We can get a head start at this rate.”
“Let’s go then,” Virgil smiled, “how long will they be?”
“Wait for me, I need to get Alan out of bed with an air horn.”
Virgil laughed, “I’ll be in the lounge,” he walked down the corridor and disappeared around the corner.
Kayo heard Gordon’s ensuite shower start and moved to Alan’s door, “Al, move it!”
“I’m coming,” Alan whined from inside the room.
“Good, I don’t want to have to come in there and drag you out.”
Scott walked out of his room in a pair of shorts and a tight vest top, “she’ll do it, Alan,” he stroked Kayo’s cheek before wrapping a hand around her waist.
“Can you two not go without touching each other every two seconds?” Gordon rolled his eyes.
“Shut up Gordon,” Scott snarled at him.
Gordon held his hands up in surrender, “ok I’m teasing, see you in the lounge.”
The group met in the ring where Virgil was playing the piano in his sportswear, Alan yawned as he followed Scott and Kayo into the lounge.
“Its too early.”
“It’s pretty late actually,” Kayo shrugged, “ok, mountain path, let’s go.”
Virgil stood up from the piano and walked down into the ring, “on your marks.”
“Get set,” Scott smiled.
Kayo nodded, “go.”
The sunshine beamed down on the forest path as the family jogged together, the route took them through green canopies and under a small waterfall before it began to curl up upwards and lead them up to the mountain, Alan lagged behind as the three eldest took off the slope.
“Come on boys.”
“We do water and space, not the groundwork,” Gordon retorted as Kayo ran around the corner.
“No excuse!” Scott called back with a laugh.
They reached the top of the cliff and stretched as they got their breath back.
“Worth it,” Kayo looked out over the ocean as Scott walked up beside her.
“It gets us out of the house, we spend way too much time just waiting around for assignments.”
Virgil sighed deeply, “thanks Kayo.”
“My pleasure. Don’t you two feel better now? She asked Gordon and Alan who were still pouting.
“Yeah,” Alan said with a yawn.
“You guys can head back down if you’d like, I’m going to stay up here for a while,” Kayo smiled as she looked back down at the house below.
Virgil looked between his eldest brother and sister, “I’m going for a sprint, see you back at the house.”
Gordon stood up after stretching, “I’m going for a swim, that’s my forte.”
“That’s not the right word Gordo,” Virgil frowned, “I think you mean your element."
Gordon groaned as he followed Virgil down the hill, “whatever.”
Alan stood up, “I know what’s going on here, see ya.”
Scott waited until the cliff was clear of siblings then pulled Kayo into his arms, “much better.”
Kayo ran her fingers through his hair, “I’m glad they’ve gone, now I can have you to myself.”
Scott smiled at her before pressing his lips to hers, “race you back to the house.”
“You’re on,” Kayo pushed herself from his grip and ran down the path as Scott followed with a laugh.

D is for drawing
When you live on an island in the middle of the ocean, you need activities to keep you from dying of boredom. The Tracys luckily have International Rescue, but what do you do when there are quiet days and in succession? Before the business had even taken off, Jeff and his late wife had pushed their children to find hobbies and things to keep themselves entertained. Lucy had taught all the boys how to play the piano and had encouraged them to ask for any instrument they wanted if they weren't keen to learn her first choice. All of them had chosen the guitar apart from the two eldest who advanced at both instruments. The boys also got on with lounge hobbies too with pool, art and using the indoor gym to stay fit so there was plenty to do, and sometimes all you want to do is just relax and that’s where the pool comes in handy. So when downtown graces the villa, there’s always music playing or the sound of splashing from the pool because after all, they’re still a regular family.
Example
“What are you drawing Virgil?” Alan asked as he joined his brother in the kitchen. “Whatever comes to mind.” “You’re grinning, you’re drawing us.” “Alright, maybe I am.” Alan hopped up onto a stool, “please don’t draw me with bad hair.” “I’m going to give you comb over,” Virgil smirked as he heard Alan groan. “You can’t be serious?” “I’ve already drawn you, and I haven't done anything to it.” “Good. I’ll be in the pool if you need me.” Virgil waved without looking up and continued to draw, he heard the sound of his piano stool being moved back across the floor above him and the notes of Michael Nyman echoed down the stairs which gave him an idea, he tucked his sketchbook under his arm and walked up to the lounge hoping that the music wouldn’t stop, he walked around the ring over to the pool table and sat down behind it before continuing to sketch as his eyes flicked from the piano to his drawing and back again. Scott smiled as he played, “busy Virgil?” “You’ve just given me an idea, that’s all.” “Glad I could be of help,” Scott followed his hand up to the top octaves of the piano as the piece 'The Heart Seeks Pleasure First' swirled around the room. “Nice playing…Scott?” Kayo looked up with surprise as her eyes laid upon her boyfriend sitting at the piano, “well this is a pleasant surprise,” she stopped by Virgil and looked down at his drawing, “very good, but I think it’s missing someone, there,” she pointed at the rough outline on the page. “And what makes you say that?” Kayo walked over to the piano and wrapped her arms around Scott’s neck resting her chin upon his head, “because it would look cuter.” Scott smiled contentedly as he played, “it’s Virgil's drawing, K, if he doesn’t want it to be romantic, that’s his choice.” “Hold still guys,” Virgil hopped up onto the desk facing the piano and began to sketch them, “here comes the regret Kayo.” Kayo smiled as Scott’s torso moved under her arms, “never.” Virgil shrugged and continued to sketch the couple at the piano laughing softly together, as he drew, he remembered how their relationship had shocked everyone at first but ever since they had become a couple they smiled a lot more around the house and on missions, he finished the sketch and looked up just as they were kissing, “guys?” “Sorry Virgil, what is it?” “It's done.” The last notes still echoed under the unreleased pedal and Kayo walked over to the desk followed swiftly by Scott, she smiled at the drawing and took it from his hands. “Wow Virgil, this is beautiful.” Scott squeezed Scott’s shoulders, “thanks brother, aw you’ve got Alan in there too.” “I’m doing all of us.” “But I’m in your spot,” Scott smiled at him. “I'll find a place to put myself.” “It’s great having an artist in the family, I can't wait to see the whole thing.” “That won’t take long,” Virgil tucked the pencil above his ear. “International rescue, we have a situation,” John appeared above the table in the ring. “I guess it will have to wait.”

B is for Bromance
Before International Rescue, there was just a family of five ordinary boys and their adopted sister. No-one flew rockets or jets and not one of them knew a thing about saving lives apart from what they saw emergency crews did on TV, but what never changed was their bond. So tight nothing could break its relationship through school came and went but the family rope never became loose or broke even through the harshest of breakups and jealousy especially revolving around the eldest and young aquanaut. Now as rescue workers and trauma specialists they could balance both family and viticms on either hand, but even with such bravery there was always fear when a brother was looking death in the eye or trapped on a mission. However, when they got home there were alwyas hugs and comforting words on high alert, and each of them had their own way of coping with tough missions.
Example Kayo was the only girl on the island and she vividly remembered the day Jeff told his sons that they would have to become more aware of the fact there was a woman on the island and in the house, she had found it very funny but at the same time she had told them not to worry or change in any way. The age of thirteen had hit her hard and once every month always took its toll and she would never join the boys in the pool and find herself crying over the smallest of things. It was one of those days today and she popped two painkillers into her mouth before walking up into the lounge and pulling a cushion to her chest as she curled up on the sofa. Eighteen-year-old Scott walked into the lounge after finishing his studies with his father, he jogged down the steps and sat down quietly beside the sixteen-year-old, he wrapped his arm around her without a word and smiled when she cuddled up to him with a sniff. “Do you need anything?” Scott asked as Kayo hissed in pain. Kayo shook her head in reply, “no, this is plenty.” Virgil walked in holding a hot water bottle and gave it to her before continuing his route to the piano to practise, “you look like you needed it.” Kayo smiled as she hugged the keyboard patterned plush, “thanks Virgil, you guys are so sweet.” Gordon skidded into the lounge followed by an eight-year-old Alan, “movie time. Aww Kayo, what’s wrong?” “Nothing I can’t handle fishfinger.” “Finding Nemo!” Alan grinned as he leapt into one of the sofas in the ring. “No, Kayo chooses the film to watch,” Gordon snapped back at him causing the eight-year-old’s lip to tremble. “I’ll watch that Alan, it’s your choice,” Kayo smiled and Alan’s grin returned immediately. “Stop playing Virgil, the movie is starting,” Alan glared over his shoulder at the pianist. “Alan, don’t be rude, what has Dad told you about being selfish,” Scott scolded as Gordon sat down at his feet. “Not to.” “We’ll watch the movie after Virgil has finished his composition.” Virgil closed the lid over the keys, “I was thinking of stopping anyway,” he jogged down the steps and sat down on Kayo’s other side much to her delight as his fluffy jumper became a cushion against her arm, “feeling any better?” “A little, the hot water bottle really helps, thank you,” she leant against his arm and he returned a brotherly kiss to her forehead as Alan turned the holoprojector on. Halfway into the movie, John walked in and sat down on the floor against Virgil’s legs, he smiled up at Kayo who was snuggled between the two eldest on the sofa eating chocolate buttons. Jeff walked into the lounge whistling only to be shhhed by his children. “Well well, now I know what you all mean when you say you’re doing homework,” Jeff smiled as Alan shrank into the cushions. “We’re just looking after Kayo,” Virgil remarked bashfully. “Sorry Mr Tracy, I’m keeping them from their studies.” “Oh Tanusha, call me uncle Jeff or just Jeff,” he winked which made Kayo smile, “I can see this is more urgent. Now, how does pizza sound for later?” Cheers of agreement answered his question, “good, enjoy the film.” Kayo sighed as she leant back against her brothers, “you guys are the best.” “This is what brothers are for,” Scott stretched his arm around her shoulders as everyone’s focus went back onto the screen.

The ABCs of international rescue
A is for Anger
If there was one Tracy to avoid when angry, it was Scott Tracy. It was best to avoid any room he was in when in one of his moods. Generally under the breath cursing would accompany a stride and so the other residents would resort to their own rooms or the pool to stay clear of the thunderstorm. However, there was one Tracy who knew how to calm this fury and that fell to Virgil’s gifts. The second eldest would just sit down at the piano and begin to play, ignoring his pacing companion he just would melodies around his brother until the eldest took his steps to the nearest chair to the instrument or usually the desk where his father used to sit. All the siblings got angry at different things and all had their ways to relieve them of fury, with Kayo it was always to go to the gym and punch out her frustrations to the kick bags, Gordon would take up the pool pushing himself to extreme lengths both in the physical sense and literal, Alan would just storm off in a mix of tears and pouts not being seen until he had calmed down, John was on the opposite side to his siblings, he didn’t get angry in the physical sense, but if he was annoyed at something, it was easy to see when not to push the anger out of him. The anger of Scott Tracy can be felt through the house and sometimes like a wildfire spreading violently and burning whoever stands in its way until it finds a stop which happens to be Virgil.
Example: “That son of a…” “Scott, that’s enough. He wasn’t that bad,” Virgil sighed as the eldest brother paced the lounge. “It’s Fischler, I’ve had it up to here with him.” Virgil simply shrugged as he turned back to his composition, “no-one got hurt.” “One of these days Virgil, someone is going to get hurt due to something he’s done,” Scott stopped by his father’s desk and watched his brother play, "he just annoys me so much.” Virgil smiled as he played, “yes, I can see that.” Scott cracked a smirk, “I’m sorry, I make everything tense don’t I?” “Yeah,” Virgil spread a glissando up the keys then brought his hands back from the keys to his rest on his knees, "and there’s absolutely no reason to.” “Can we sue him for wasting our time?” Scott leant back casually against the desk. “He did need rescuing, it was just his own fault which got him into the mess in the first place.” “That doesn’t matter, he still put our lives at risk as well as his colleagues.” Virgil resumed playing, “that’s not a reason to sue him. Dad would’ve called today a success.” Scott pushed himself from the table and stood beside the piano tentatively, “I know he would.” Virgil moved down the stool, “then calm down and forget about Fischler, he can’t hurt us here.” “If he comes anywhere near here I’ll activate the island’s defences.” Virgil laughed as Scott sat down beside him and began to play, “I’d like to see you try that.” “I’ve threatened to do it before,” Scott shrugged as he watched his fingers dance across the keys in front of him, “thanks, Virgil.” “For what?” “You always know how to bring me back from a rampage.” “What are brothers for?” Virgil smiled and the two eldest continued the duet together, their conversation turning into laughter.
