Yelena who decides to get a side job outside of doing Val’s dirty work because despite the fact that she doesn’t really need the money she’s grown bored of drinking herself into a stupor during the day and ends up a mechanics apprentice, quickly turned fulltime mechanic at a little auto body shops on one of the quieter streets of east harlem.
Yelena who only knows so much about cars because she’s done a great deal of hot wiring and sabotaging of government vehicles that she finds fixing things is pretty much as easy as blowing them up.
Yelena who grows to be a big part of the shop and community surrounding. Who likes drinking with the other older guys instead of by herself and overtime ends up invited to numerous backyard barbecues and finds herself ignoring Val's calls on occasion in favor of hanging out with old men and their wives.
Yelena who spots you at one of said barbecues she’s invited to and thanks her lucky stars that you're no one's wife or daughter, but instead her boss’s neighbor. Making her way over to you with the most subtly pick up line she can manage on the tip of her tongue, and mentally punching air as she’s met with a smile and laugh.

Random Found Family!Thunderbolts* headcanons that I thought of during rewatches:
Bucky kept insisting that Alexei call him Bucky instead of Mr.Soldier because it was triggering for him (but Bucky never told him that was the reason). Alexei didn't really understand why he wouldn't wear the title The Winter Soldier with pride, since to him something like being the greatest soldier in history was an achievement not something to be ashamed of. It was until Yelena explained to Alexei how The Winter Soldier and Bucky Barnes are not the same person (because of the abuse and manipulation), and how Bucky's time as The Winter Soldier is something triggering that he worked so hard to get past. After that, Alexei took calling Bucky Bucky very seriously and only said the occasional "Mr.Soldier" during fights or something and he always tried to self correct.
Even though Bucky knew Walker before becoming The Avengerz, he always had a not-so-subtle favoritism towards Yelena. (As a platonic or romantic WinterWidow fan) I like to think that there would be times every once in a while Bucky will see Yelena in action or even just a random mannerism and would just smile to himself and one time he accidentally said what he was thinking out loud, "sometimes you remind me of her". And since Yelena didn't actually know natasha that well in adulthood -- especially since she was so busy with The Avengers -- sometimes Bucky would share with Yelena different stories about Natasha, mostly ones about her helping people.
Emotional stories like how Natasha helped Bucky understand that he was more than the weapon that he was made to be, and fun stories like when the two of them would sneak out of the compound at night and fix up their motorcycles together without interruptions, a hobby that they both found soothing.
Sorry but I standby there is no possible way the Thunderbolts would celebrate the Fourth of July.
Yelena Belova would absolutely mock the Fourth of July and how incredibly American it is to go all out and advertise it throughout the entire summer. She'd also criticize how blatantly capitalistic the holiday has become.
Alexei Shostakov wouldn’t elebrate because, well, he isn't American, so why would he celebrate a holiday about American independence? (In reality, he just hates seeing Steve Rogers' face plastered everywhere in celebration.) He's also triggered by the sound of gunshots, but he refuses to admit it. Instead, he'd sit near John and Bucky, scoffing as he flinches at every firework and loudly rants about why Russia is better. His voice gets louder and higher-pitched with every firework.
Ava Starr rolls her eyes and scoffs at the holiday. She usually sits with Yelena, the two of them mocking the holiday while trying to ignore the fireworks. She focuses more on how many Americans make it their entire personality and how American it is to party excessively and leave litter everywhere. Mostly, though, she's using the jokes as a distraction because the fireworks aggravate her chronic pain.
Bob is probably the most conflicted, but he still hates the Fourth of July. His father was very MAGA-esque, so of course he celebrated the holiday and got angry whenever Bob didn't. Bob would be right beside Ava and Yelena, curled into a ball while quietly waiting for it all to end.
Bucky Barnes hates it because, first, he hates seeing Steve's face plastered everywhere, and second, the fireworks trigger him. He often sits by the window with Walker, watching the fireworks as a way to remind himself that he's no longer on the battlefield.
John Walker doesn't celebrate the Fourth of July and hasn't for a long time. One reason is that Lemar Hoskins regularly refused to celebrate it, repeatedly telling John that independence had only been for white people. So John simply stopped celebrating and instead spends the day with the Hoskins family. After the Afghanistan War, he came to hate the holiday even more because the fireworks became a severe trigger. Bucky often sits beside him by the window, holding onto his arm while they both wear noise-canceling headphones that don't really work because of their enhanced hearing from the Super Soldier Serum.
Bonus Mention because how can I not mention the icon himself
Sam Wilson absolutely fucking hates the Fourth of July. When reporters ask if he's celebrating, he goes on a beautifully worded speech about how the Fourth of July is a load of nonsense and that if Americans truly cared about freedom, they would recognize that Juneteenth should be the official holiday instead of this stupid white centered one.
(Needless to say, MAGA supporters and many Republicans were not happy about that.)
This is really just me hating the Fourth of July and projecting that onto the Thunderbolts.
Still thinking about my headcanon about Bucky being constantly cold. The heatwave in New-York doesn't change anything and worse, the air conditioning in the Tower is like Hell for him (because his teammates need it to survive said heatwave). And Bob is right here. The "lucky one" like John called him, because he's completely unaffected by the heat and he's always happy to cuddle with Bucky to warm him
After living together long enough, the Thunderbolts essentially develop their own secret language. Not on purpose, mind you. And they don’t even realize how strange it is until they have to work with other heroes and everyone stares at them like they have two heads.
It starts with the others making fun of Bucky for using outdated slang from the 1930s. He doesn’t care to break the habit or learn the modern slang, but he decides he has to get back at them somehow. So he starts making things up. At first, they’re close enough that only he can tell they’re fake, but then he starts pushing to see how weird he can get before they realize he’s fucking with them.
Once she figures it out, Yelena follows suit by mixing made up Russian phrases with her real ones. Alexei soon joins her (after she had to explain what she was doing multiple times so he wouldn’t ruin the joke), then Bob and John start throwing out fake Southern phrases left and right. And Ava gets to join in twofold, because she adds in fake and real phrases from both England and Argentina.
It doesn’t take them long to figure out they’re all doing the same bit, but it doesn’t take the fun out of it. They keep doing it, and some of the fake slang starts to stick. Eventually, they’ve created a mishmash of phrases pulled from across time and space, as well as from their own asses, that they all understand perfectly. It’s more secure than any code any intelligence agencies have ever come up with.
